Royalty Thread #8.....A Pregnant Pause

I was thinking more along the lines of knowing exactly when she starts labor, what she's wearing, is her hair up or down, when is she going to the hospital, is Harry driving her to the hospital, what is Harry wearing, which car she's going in, when is the Queen notified, what is Queen wearing when she first is notified, when the baby is born, what color blanket is the baby swaddled in, was the blanket a gift from Meghans mom, etc etc, all in real time.
Well, they COULD just live stream the whole thing!

I wasn't worried about the travel time. I was concerned about the event and all the people who are involved and who are looking fwd to the Prince.
Not like everyone didn't know he is expecting a child. And they have said they want that family bonding time.....something so important they can't stop bonding for a family pic.

When I was born my Dad was serving in the Navy and was somewhere off the coast of Alaska. Somehow we all survived and were quite well bonded in spite of it all.

Yep, my dad was attending college in Chicago when I was born and the doctor drove my mom to the hospital which was in another town, back when our family was living in the boonies of NW Iowa. Meghan's in London - there's gonna be someone around to help. :D

In the NHL, the San Jose Sharks player Gustav Nyquist's wife gave birth either the morning of or the night before the Sharks game, and Nyquist was there in the afternoon to get ready to play. That happens all the time in sports. I'm sure a lot of hockey players would love to be home the first few days with the baby, but they have something else that's important to them that cannot be rescheduled, so they make it work. It's not the end of the world.

Major League Baseball has a "paternity list". Players can be off for three days after the birth of a child and the team can replace them on the active roster. They have done it since 2011 and most players take advantage of it.

But don't forget that Harry can't take advantage of something similar because "Man-gan" isn't pregnant. She's just on maternity leave for a baby that doesn't exist so Harry is probably in Netherlands trying to find a poor desperate pregnant single mom to hand over the baby and present it as "theirs." Once that happens Man-gan can proceed with her sex reassignment surgery and also ... get arrested for treason.

I was afraid you were going to forget the arrested for treason part.

It was explained to me further on a Facebook group today. Apparently, surrogacy is very common. So much so that there are quite a lot of uncontracted surrogates running around pregnant with random babies implanted through IVF that may or may not be biologically theirs. Using a surrogate means you just find one and get that baby. So the new theory is that their original surrogate changed her mind and they are looking for a new one who is about to deliver.

Me: I think you have no idea how surrogacy works.

Crazy person: Obviously, you don't.

Okay, then.

Do they really actually believe that? Can a sane person actually believe that?

So in sum:

  • Queen Maxima wore a thing and the Dutch princesses look very grown up.
  • Queen Letizia went to Mozambique.
  • Japan has a new emperor and only three people in the line of succession.
  • The King of Thailand married his bodyguard.

Yet we're discussing wacky conspiracy theories put forth by random internet people, about a baby who may or may not have been born yet?

This thread needs more fun and more bling. Luckily Princess Gabriella has this covered!

All true. Harry controls his engagements. I would think he would make sure he was there when his first baby is born. It is an experience that you only have once. It would be sad if he missed it.....for both he and his wife.

Well, I think we are not talking about sane people. A lot of them seem to not know the difference between surrogacy and adoption--hence the it won't be their biological child and she is committing treason and this will all end with her imprisoned in the Tower of London. Me to one: It's 2019, not 1119. That didn't go over well.

This is a closed royal watching page, though, so the crazies have even invaded those spaces.

If Harry needs to scoot over to the Netherlands for a day or two, his little family will have people to assist if needed.

I'm sure that Megan and Harry have a whole team of assistants, including round-the-clock nannies.

Media reports say they have been recruiting for a nanny to start after the baby is born. I am surprised because I assumed Meghan would take at least 6 months if maternity leave and then come back very part time for a while. Maybe being American she is still thinking she needs to go back to work right away!
It also surprises me because I believe the lack of substantial maternity leave exeracerbated Diana’s post partum depression. I think Harry would be keen to make sure Meghan has enough time off.

Edited for clarity.

 Isn't this is her first child?

@Vagabond and @taf2002 Sorry! Clearly I didn’t proofread my post! The post partum depression part I was talking about Diana.
It eventually occurred to me that that must have been to whom you were referring. But surely the Duchess can have a nanny and a bit time off from official engagements as well?

I don't think that they get the nanny once the baby is born says anything about how long Meghan will be on maternity leave. They might just want the nanny to get the know the baby and vice-versa from the start just in case. Unlike many of us, they can't ask friends or family to watch the baby for an hour or two, for example. Or maybe Meghan just feels more comfortable if she has a little bit of support since Harry probably won't take time off in the same way she does.

Royal baby watch: Prince Harry shortens foreign trip
https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/03/uk/prince-harry-netherlands-royal-baby-gbr-intl/index.html

Harry has shortened his trip.

From Three Men and a Little Lady "About bloody time!"

I read that the bookmakers have stopped taking bets on when the baby will be born. Leading to speculation that the baby has already been born.

Here is what I don't get. In the past, the Crown announces when the woman goes in labor, and later announces the birth, and sex of the child.

Harry and Meghan are tucked away at Frogmore (supposedly). The home is secure and guarded. Why would someone think that delaying the announcement of the birth of a healthy heir to the British Throne, and (potential American taxpayer) would alter their wish privacy?

They don't have to come outside. It is not a place people have access to, or there would have been people gawking ever since they moved in. It is not like people are going to drop by for a cup of sugar. Truly, I do not get it.

Hopefully the speculation about holding off on an announcement is just that, speculation, because the only other reason I can think of is that Meghan and Harry want to do a "reveal" in a major publication...which IMO is pretty trashy for the Royal Family.
