The same would apply to Harry and Megan though? She is of African heritage and needs to join the C of E too

How so? I was responding to the statement a person was not approved because they are "Jewish" and I said no, I do not think so, for example, etc etc etc. Not racist at all, just a fact

For much of their relationship, though, she was high enough in the line of succession to need the Queen's permission.

I found the article I read, and it ... it serves me right for reading the daily mail ... stated that if the Queen were to be asked, and if she asked William his opinion, he (William) would tell her he didn't approve.

If true and if the guy really married the next woman he dated then maybe it had more to do with the guy's character than his religion :shuffle:

But what does her being African heritage have to do with anything? That she wasn't C of E seems somewhat relevant (though Harry would need permission regardless.)

because dave clark was jewish, and the family heads up the church of england?
nah, the Queen is Defender of the Faith, Supreme Governor of the Church of England, not the whole family :) If she'd had any particular objection I'm sure it would have filtered down the line via Andrew & Fergie  What a lovely couple they seem, I am very happy for them :)

Her heritage has nothing to do with anything and I don't particularly see why should would have to be a baptised and confirmed member of the Church of England to marry Harry, although I am aware that when preparing wedding Banns the Vicar or whoever is in charge at a Church would ask where the individuals were baptised - usually as children. Whether that would prevent a Church marriage I don't know offhand. I'm not aware whether Meghan Markle has any religion or none.

Most media reports say she identifies as protestant.
I don't think she has to get baptized C of E; but she has chosen to.

I don't know about C of E; but in the Catholic church it isn't complicated to get married to another Christian, but marrying a non-Christian complicates the church wedding (not sure if it is a "can't do it" or just another step though)

It just adds another layer of stuff to go through. But it can be done.

I don't believe for a minute that Beatrice's relationship ended because William disapproved. The Daily Mail is not a reliable source. It likely ended because it ended. Relationships can.

I am not working today and doing a little too much web surfing and have seen more ridiculous royal rumors than I can remember seeing in one day ever. And that was before I saw this one.

I have no idea what happened between Beatrice and Dave, but I have seen this scenario before. Long term relationship ends and one of the parties gets married fairly quickly afterwards to someone else. Some call it rebound, I suspect it has to do with the person finally being ready to get married, and realizing that they want to marry, they just don’t want to marry the person they have been with. Or, alone the same lines, they have know for a while they don’t want to marry the person, but it isn’t until push comes that they will actually get up the guts to leave.

I figure assuming you are both over the age of, say, 25, you know pretty quickly if you want to get married. If you don’t know, it probably means you don’t want to.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited a center that supports STEM education/careers esp. for girls.

I'm impressed with how Meghan is diving into royal duties and accompanying Harry on many of these visits before she's even an official royal. I do not recall Kate getting involved in such things so early (although I may be misremembering). In any case, it seems an indication that Meghan does have a genuine interest in charitable/social work.

William was still in the military and based in Wales when he & Kate were engaged. He was doing far fewer engagements himself at the time. Harry is done with his military service, living in London and a full time royal carrying out engagements now. That's the difference. Not any lack of enthusiasm by Kate or sanctity on the part of Meghan. Kate did not do solo engagements for several months after the wedding and it is unlikely that Meghan will either.
