Christina Grimmie, the third place winner from the 2014 season of The Voice was shot to death while signing autographs after an Orlando concert appearance. The shooter, who has not been identified, committed suicide shortly after. All police have been able to confirm is that the shooter traveled to the Orlando area specifically to shoot Miss Grimmie. As of now, the police do not believe the two knew each other.

so sad and strange, all over the news down here (I live in Central Florida)

It's been about a year since i was in that venue, but I remember having my purse checked. I've never understood checking women's purses and saying it's to keep weapons out. No, it's to keep you from bringing in food or drinks, so you have to buy them inside - or a recording device. If you are serious about checking for weapons, have a metal detector and/or pat everyone down. They do have security guards, but i guess normal problems would be fights or a few drunks.

I saw this on TV this morning. What a terrible thing to happen to anyone! They were saying the man traveled to Orlando to do this. I wish the B--- had not killed himself. He should have faced charges in a court and received the most severe penalty according to the law.

My deepest condolences to Christina's family.

I just wish he'd done that part first.

I didn't watch that season of the Voice but watched a few videos of Grimmie this morning. She was quite talented. How sad for her, and for her family. Her brother is the one who tackled the guy after he shot Christina - he must be beside himself. :(

How horrible. :( This tragedy reminded me to look for an update on a Japanese pop singer, Mayu Tomita, who was stabbed repeatedly by a male stalker "fan" last month - thankfully she has come out of her coma: http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/20...was-stabbed-by-stalker-regains-consciousness/

Christina's heroic brother, Marcus, wrote this on his FB: https://www.facebook.com/marcus.grimmie/posts/1083280678432366
Excerpt:
Christina was more than my sister. She was a partner in life. A superstar. A goofball. Introverted. And a friend to everyone. Genuinely. But above all...she was my baby sister. She loved the Lord and her family and was always there for me and I honestly don't know what ill do without her.

Saw this news earlier. Totally shattering and devastating. Prayers for her family and friends. RIP, Christina. <3

I saw that she had been shot and was in critical condition last night before I went to bed but was SO sad to find out this morning that she had passed away from her injuries. I remember her from that season of The Voice and she was not only talented but seemed like a very sweet person too. My thoughts and prayers go out to her friends, family, and fans. Such a tragic loss. RIP. :fragile:
