I was sorry to see advertisements on Peacock during the recent US Gymnastics championships. Isn’t Peacock supposed to be ad free…or is that just for figure skating?
I think it's only ad-free if you upgrade to Peacock Premium or Plus or whatever they're calling it now.

I had (for gymnastics) what I always had before - Premium. Ads showed up for gymnastics.

You have to have Premium Plus for it to be ad free. You'll have ads if you just purchase the regular Premium plan which is $5.99 per month.

I just have the Premium plan and don't mind the ads. If you're watching a movie, for instance, they sometimes play the ads first before the movie which is good.

And I've never seen ads on live skating events from the World feed. (The replays are a different matter and it just depends there.)

I forget to cancel the auto-renew for Peacock last year and got charged around $50 for the year at renewal time. Apparently that isn't/wasn't Premium Plus rate as I got plenty of ads during gymnastics and just now watching the US swimming Olympic trials.

I've turned off the auto renewal, so I'll 🙏 for a better rate come September or October when I re-sign up.

Hopefully the Olympic coverage on Peacock will be by event and not bounce around to different events like often happens on broadcast network channels.

They show every event in its entirety. I used it for a lot of the gym events in Tokyo.

The gymnastics telecast was the same one that was on TV, hence the ads during commercial breaks. I have Premium Plus and I saw them too. There was no World Feed, hence why you saw them. There was no other alternate feed, so you weren’t getting around them.

Obviously the crazy price NBC pays for the US Olympic rights is getting passed on to us via the commercials.

I have a roku TV and the peacock app keeps crashing and routing me back to the home screen. Anyone else dealing with this?

Yes I received a similar/same email. The prices are going up in August 17, 2024. My current annual subscription expires in October so I am hoping for a sale around then. I also can't stand ads I always sign up for that and that price is going all the way up to 139.99. Crazy.

My 2-year free Peacock premium with xfinity is expiring this month, so I was poking around on their site. They have a stream discount on AppleTV+, Netflix, and Peacock premium so you get all 3 services for $15/month, which is a pretty good deal.

I think my next bill won't show Peacock any more and then I'll think bout this promotion, assuming it still exists. But holy cow, what a cluster their website is.

... use code TGIF. Excludes current Peacock Premium and Premium Plus subscribers.

... This Code is valid August 29, 2024 – September 6, 2024 and is subject to early termination (the “Redemption Period”).

Unless you cancel before the end of your Access Period, when your Access Period expires, you will be charged for your Peacock Premium subscription at the then-current retail rate (plus tax), which will auto-renew on a monthly basis at the then-current retail rate (plus tax) unless and until you cancel. ...

an email in my email box just now from Peacock saying that on the 18th, in three days my subscription goes up by another two dollars per month. Is it worth it to keep this? How many Grand Prix are going to be on Peacock this fall? Any other skating going to be in the cock? Otherwise I think it may be time to pull the plug.

All Grand Prix events plus the NQS Finals, Nationals, Euros, 4CCs and Worlds. The usual. No idea how long the replays will be up for each event.

For myself, I splurged during the Olympics and paid the extra to not have commercials. It has been heavenly. There was some promotional stuff, but now that the Olympics are over, I am still watching stuff I missed and there is nothing. I don't think I can give it up - at least not until the political season is over.

Does the Peacock feed have commentators for all the skating and if so, who does it? I know everyone else hates commentators, but I don't. :p I might get it this year to be able to watch some other stuff on Peacock.

Depends on the event.

NQS Sectionals & Pairs/Dance Finals and Nationals Junior events - no commentary, no TES tracker - only the starting order, skater name/club, segment score & total score graphics usually.

Skate America & Nationals Senior events - usually we have an option of a commentary or no commentary stream

Remaining Grand Prixs, JGPF/GPF, Euros, 4CCs & Worlds - last season we usually had the international feed which meant commentary from Mark Hanretty, Ted Barton, or Chris Howarth, and sometimes special guests for certain segments or disciplines.

If you buy a full year up front, you get 2 months free, which equates to essentially the same $5.99/mo price. I don't watch a lot on Peacock outside of skating but every now and again there are series, documentaries or movies I catch there.
