Concentrate on saving the US many many many more pennies rather than showing us your teeny tiny little penis!

A side note, but it really pisses me off that this line of insult is almost universally seen as acceptable. The size of a man's penis is completely irrelevant to everything at issue here and the mocking of it or speculating about the size of it is completely unnecessary at best, and seems like it could maybe in itself be considered sexual harassment in some situations. Men who happen to have small penises don't deserve to be mocked or insulted for that reason the way they constantly are in society.

Dang straight this is sexual harassment!

And it surprises me that you would see that size would be more of an issue to you than the use of the words pennies and penis. You've obviously missed the whole point of the comparative contrast since I've (thankfully) never seen the "size" in question. But I am quickly learning that there are some who would rather make a mockery of one word than to address the issue which is of far more importance to the nation's economy. And that would hardly be a male organ...no matter what the size...but would certainly bring to the forefront the question of moral conduct. Thank goodness I've never had such a 'small minded' attitude about flat-chested girls. Some issues are better taken with a :D than with a . But then there are others who insist on a fight. What a pity.

I don't have any interest in fighting and don't deny that other issues are as important or more important, but it's just so common to see those particular jokes even among supposedly "progressive" people and so rare to see them questioned, and I had just had enough of it at this particular moment and didn't find it funny. I know you were trying to make a pun and were not actually sexually harassing anyone, and sorry if it came across as though I was accusing you of that. Obviously, anyone who inappropriately pulls out their penis (regardless of size) without consent deserves some degree of shaming and other consequences, but no one does simply for having a particular physical characteristic they can't control and when "jokes" like this are so common it becomes more acceptable to use it to really try to hurt people.

No problem. At least you are a person who knows when nothing malicious was intended and I appreciate that. Believe me those comments about my "Twiggy" physique didn't make me happy at the time, but we all learn to live with what we've got and to appreciate ourselves as we are. And, thanks to my Mom, a sense of humor about it helps. ;)

OMG! Now Maestro James Levine has joined the circle of questionable male behavior. Has he been waving his baton in the wrong manner...at the wrong person...for the wrong reason? :duh:
This is both a shock to the Met (in the sense of very very bad PR at a time when it's already experiencing hard times) and not a shock at all. I knew from a musician friend that "Jimmy's little boys" were common knowledge at least 20 years ago. And apparently no one, including us two, gave any thought to the boys. :( This will have a devastating effect on the Met as well as Levine's legacy as the two were pretty much one and the same for so long. I know the Met is saying they didn't know but that's false. I guess Levine is now something like Furtwangler, a great, great conductor but forever tainted.

I hope it's cathartic to Levine's targets to get it out now.

I find myself cringing at the thought of...who'll be next? :duh:
