JGP #2 Ankara TUR - Women's SP & FS

Another senioresque skate from Oka. Difficult music to skate to, but she did great with it. Awful costume, but oh well, you can't have everything.

I believe Gladki hit a growth spurt, but it doesn't seem to have affected her skating too much, although her combo looked just a bit sketchy to me. Nice Chopin program. Whoops, she fell on her last spin!

I'd have had Sofia at least 5th. Her PCS should have been higher. But we'll see how she does in the free.
Glad to know I'm not alone in that sentiment. I woke up midway through Sofia's program and was so impressed by her presentation. I missed Kaljuvere, so I can't comment on her program. Yujae was her typical, rather bland self. Murakami was fine, though I can't help lamenting her loss to pairs skating. I rewound to watch Sophie Joline and wow has her PCS improved tremendously since even last spring. Also really enjoyed Leandra and Stefania - such a shame about the fall on the last spin for Stefania, otherwise she'd easily be in 3rd or 4th, IMO. Mayuko - there's a lot of potential there, but that program was a bit weird, even knowing it was Weaver choreo. I don't know what I think of her winning the PCS mark.

Nice speed, and good skating skills, but the jumps weren't quite clean today between the 3-turn in the combination, and quite a lean on the loop.

I think the music was a bit too much for a young teenager, but she had some nice moments. Really strong elements, loop aside, and nice, clear positions in the spins, and steps.

Change Foot Combo Spin* - fall, no value

It was such a good program, and then slipped on the entry to the final spin, and lost the entire element. A bit tentative on the jumps, but she got through them, but maybe that hesitation did affect the spin entry.

Very enjoyable skater, and clearly dealing with a lot of difficulty off the ice, and great to see a young athlete find a way to express that in their performance.

just catching up on some of the women - WOW the young woman from USA Sophia (junior national champion) that really moved me! In the background her coach wiped away tears..aww.. its a program dedicated to her fellow young skaters who had passed away in the plane crash. Her time with the professional ice company tours really paid off, she has managed to convey her emotions to the audience. What an improvement from last year! The triple axel combo was a beauty!

love the program and dress from Japan's Oka! I think that might be my favourite dress of the season so far. She just needs to work on the second mark a little - skates a little introspective not to the audience yet - but she is young. I agree with the judging for her program.

Loved the music, choreo and costume. Shout out to Kaitlyn and Kana. Oka is marvelous, the talent pool in Japan is just bottomless.
