Anita Pointer of The Pointer Sisters fame has passed away after battling cancer. She had previously lost her daughter Jada and her sister Ruth to cancer as well.

Anita sang lead vocals on the following Pointer Sisters hits:

Yes We Can Can

Fairytale

How Long (Betcha' Got a Chick on the Side)

Fire

Slow Hand

I'm So Excited

The song Fairytale was written by Anita and hit #13 on the pop chart and #39 on the country and western chart. And the song made history as stated on wikipedia:

"Fairytale" went on to win the Pointer Sisters the Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group for the year 1974, marking the first awarding of a Grammy to an all-female vocal group and making the Pointer Sisters the only black women to date who have won a Grammy in a country music category. Bonnie and Anita Pointer also received a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Country Song as the writers of "Fairytale."

Anita returned to the country music charts in 1986 on the song "Too Many Times" which was a duet with Earl Thomas Conley. Their song went all the way to #2.

Golfer Barry Lane has died at age 62 after a brief (unspecified) illness. The Euro Tour Legends rookie of the year award was just named for him and he got to present it to Adilson da Silva last month. I met him a few years back. Sweet man.

I'm watching the Buffalo--Cincy game and players are crying. I hope I am not witnessing a player dying on the field.

One of the latest updates says he has a pulse but isn’t breathing on his own.. I’ve been watching too and it’s horrible

The Presley family certainly have lives cut short too soon. I hope they find solace from memories. RIP

My high school faves are really dropping. I wore out the first CSN&Y album. But I’m also happily shocked he made it this long.

When I settled in at W&M in the late summer of 1973, the first album that my roommate played was "Deja Vu" and the iconic opening guitar passage of "Carry On". I had never heard it before and I was amazed. I played that album over and over again.

RIP, David Crosby. You will be missed. I also grew up on the music of Crosby, Stills & Nash. Two particular songs that I'll always love:
Part of the lyrics of Our House

"I'll light the fire, you place the flowers
In the vase that you bought today
Staring at the fire for hours and hours
While I listen to you play your love songs…"

And Judy Blue Eyes ❤️💔

I was a big 24 fan, so this is :( . I really appreciated her freckles - you don't see enough of those in Hollywood. She was only 45.
