We are completely without power again. We are just so ho-hum about the whole thing right now. We got my headquarters staff on the mainland frantically emailing us wondering how we're doing and we're all: Oh, well. Funny how what's acceptable keeps on shifting.
I read an article after the "over 4000 people died because of Maria" article first came out that pointed out that there only about 1000+ death certificates issued in that time and -- presumably -- at least a few of them were not because of the hurricane. So 1,427 seems a more reasonable number to me.
And, yes, it's sad (and infuriating) how the bar keeps lowering.
I can only pray that I’ll see Puerto Rico recover economically and infrastructure-wise in my lifetime, but as long as the status quo is maintained...
If it’s devastating for me (and worse for my mother who was born and raised in PR, and might never see improvement) I can’t imagine how it must be for those actually there. Or having to make the decision to leave, which I definitely don’t blame.
