I have a crush on Artur Dalaloyan. That is all I came to share.
I'm still finding MAG so much more entertaining than WAG.
Simone proves to be superhuman and gets a silver on uneven bars! I bet she's probably proudest of that medal.
I always liked event finals but then media said no one really cares about them and only team and all around matterAdd me in as another who is thrilled that Mai and Morgan also medalled today!

*cough* Nina Derwael (Belgium) on bars *cough* If she’s clean tomorrow, Simone can’t touch her.
Why was Musty so low? No upgrades and blender skills?
I tuned in late and thought I was seeing the fugliest vault competition I’ve ever seen.
Yes. There were some people I was sure were going to die out there. It's been a while since I watched a full Vault final, but last time I did, so many of the women were chucking skills that look like they're praying for dear life that they can somewhat compete. Does it still look like that outside like the top vaulters?
It’s always been this way to some extent, but especially in more recent years. In WAG, vault is the go-to event where lesser known countries and gymnasts can distinguish themselves and actually compete with the big federations, because it’s a single skill event and in a sense is “easier” to learn (please note how I put that in quotes because in no way do I think vault is easy, but it doesn’t need some of the refined technique the other events require).
In years past, we’d see gymnasts from very small federations make world and Olympic finals by chucking crazy difficulty with only a few hopes to actually land it. I think this most recent Code of Ppints went out of its way to discourage that dangerous trend, but obviously one cannot completely eliminate it.
I’ve never seen a gymnast other than Simone one who has the combination of power, tiny size, and hip flexibility so she can flip, Twist, move quickly, reach full split, maintain form, and POWER without getting significant injuries. Leave aside the nice lines and toe point that we’d like to see, her difficulty does not detract from her basic form and alignment due to her strength. Many athletes who have the strength, bulk, power do not have the flexibility so they either lack amplitude or they force the extension and get injured. Or they are curvy which limits twisting. And the ones with the long Lean lines lack the power and compactness so they can’t pull the flips around or they overextend and they get injured. She just never has to back up from big injuries. She just builds. So even if there was more depth in gymnastics overall, it wouldn't mean they could reach Simone's level.
I've been watching the event finals on NBC Sports Network and I actually think Sam got screwed a bit on his PH score. His routine was fabulous and I think the execution score could have been higher. Its wonderful that he hit though and I hope he can do it again tomorrow on his two best events. I think he has a better shot at winning medals on PB and HB so maybe, JUST MAYBE, he can hold it together for two more events. *fingers and toes crossed*
Simone on vault is just wow.![]()
4th again.I can’t watch pbars. At least Sam did a great routine.
