Gymnastics News #15

I am not sure why, but Whittenburg's press handstand was discounted. Honestly I don't think they can get a medal even without the floor issues, I think pommels will get them.

Not good for Russia on floor. The Chinese men can flip the switch so easily.

I have lost all faith in Orozco. Ruggeri has pretty much killed any hopes for Rio.

I agree with Mikulak, Leyva, and Naddour.

Whittenburg for his PB skills. They other is up in the air.

Whittenburg needs to work on controlling his power and improving his execution. Wynn is needed for SR but he should work on improving a couple of other events.

I really, really hope that Daltons return to top form. If he gets his vault and FX back, Whittenburg could get nervous.

Orozco is a good case study on why it can be a really bad idea to forgo college competition. Leyva has at least proven himself. Even Tim Daggett's kid will probably compete all four years at Oklahoma.

With China's first score on high bar a 14.233, I think both silver and bronze are up for grabs at this point.

Oh god the Chinese and Russian gymnast are starting to make mistakes. The US and GB might hold on to their spots.

Aww...thought GB might have a chance there with the OOB and the poor form on HB, but it's just too much innit?

Abliazin's score over 15.00 with two stepouts and hops. That score there could clinch them a bronze.

I still think the US and GB will be in tough to hang on to the podium, although you never know.

US needs average score of 14.59 to go ahead of China, 14.18 to go ahead of Russia
GB needs average score of 15.00 to go ahead of China, 14.59 to go ahead of Russia

ETA - GB needs to beat USA by an average of 0.41 to go ahead of them.

Leyva should've stayed under his towel. :scream: the US men ending on PH is like Romania ending on UB in women's gymn. There's a Iordache, but the rest is Zarzu and Olaru everywhere.

GB is looking like they might pull this off.
The US needed to be clan and Leiva probably gave the bronze away
