Sacramone got one in 2011 and she didn't even compete in the prelims because she was injured before the competition even started.
 
I've just watched Fasana's floor from yesterday. It's so wrong that she and Afan scored the same.
 
Just to note Sacramone's U.S record of 10 world medals was already tied by Biles the other night and is sure to blasted out of space in the coming days.

Miller's record of 7 combined Olympic/world golds (5 worlds, 2 Olympic in her case) was tied the other night and also will likely be blasted away in the coming days.

After these worlds Biles will already be the greatest U.S gymnast ever IMO, even without having competed in the Olympics yet. After the Olympics it will likely be whether she is the best gymnast ever period, forget the U.S.

Really clean, and can be about .2-.3 better IMO! I'd love to see her win a medal here, she's perhaps the most underrated gymnast on bars the past 10 years.

She's due for a medal soon, I think she's going to Rio based on TF and what she's qualified for here. If Kocian were to win bars, the Olympic team could already be just about a done deal.

I honestl think there is atleast a 65% shot these 5 are your Olympic team. However Kocian would be well advised to keep upgrading bars and get her beam back in good shape to protect her spot. Aly and Maggie to clean up some things. Still these 5 look good.

I'm not sure, a lot depends on what happens with Kocian in EF IMO. I could easily see Marta taking Kyla or Bailie depending on how they score in relation and how they look on BB. There's a weakness on beam and Bailie has big AA potential with a fixed beam routine (she's fully capable). I also think Laurie could put Aly's spot in jeopardy, but Aly will be out to prove herself and bringing in two individual Olympic champs would be a huge statement..

Overall though there's a really strong chance it'll be the team, but the girls at home are uber competitive and I think only Simone, Gabby, and now Maggie are locks for the Rio team as long as they look this strong next year. I think Bailie, Kyla, and Laurie could change it. Baumann needs an UB that can compare with her BB. I'm also not completely giving up on Maroney, if she came back and won the US comps on vault you would probably take her + Laurie/Bailie and it'll compliment Simone, Maggie, and Gabby really well. But that's wishful thinking.

I mostly agree with this assessment but the thing is beam is not a good event for Key anymore. Her beam has been a mess all year. So I dont see her being taken over Kocian due to beam. Currently she would never be used on beam by the team anyway. Kocian clearly has the upper hand on Key right now IMO.

I agree Aly's spot is vurnerable. Her floor isnt a big game changer anymore, her beam is now suspect, her Amanar is fug. I could see someone stealing her spot absolutely. I think Key could even steal Aly's AA spot more easily than Kocian's specialist spot.

I dont think Baumann will ever be that good on bars. It is her worst event. Her best chance is upgrading beam further and getting a really strong amanar as she is a strong vaulter. After these worlds Marta might see the need for a beamer more than a bars worker and she might be the one to bump Kocian off in that case.
 
With her current routine - no. But if she takes the BHS out before her double pike and learns a FF-LO-LO (like Kim) series then voila - a TF worthy set that'll probably be around a 15 (and a very clean UB set to go with it, plus floor).

I love Kocian on UB (sans Jaegar) but she needs to medal here, her event is interchangable with a couple of others (like Ross and Key, who could do more TF events in theory) and Gabby will be in Rio. Kocian needs a medal, and even then she'll need to be the top bars worker next year. A win here on bars will probably solidify her a spot though.
 
I do find it mildly amusing that we are talking about the US weakness on beam when they still won beam by over a point. That said, I agree that they're vulnerable on beam - the reason they won it this time is because they were one of the only teams to stay on. I don't think they can or should count on a fall from China, 3 falls from Russia, and no Romania in Team Finals in Rio.

Speaking of beam, I'm also amused that for all that some of us were worried about the Brits on beam, that's the event where they had their biggest margin of victory over Russia. Again, due to Russia's 3 falls, but still, kudos to the Brits for hitting 3 beam routines. They were the only team besides the US to do so.

I just saw what she posted. She even said China/GB were overscored. Of course it's not her fault at all. I feel bad for her because she must've been hurting to make those comments, but what a sore loser. Her apology was even worse because she did away with any goodwill by saying she had no proof to back up her comments. Girl, it's not steroids. This is just what athletic and conditioned bodies look like. I wonder how Gabby, Maddie, and Simone will treat her during EFs. I hope Gabby edges her out on UB and for Simone to act like she does not even know who she is.

Can anyone here point to a site, or indeed let me themselves how Becky Downie's beam D score in TF. Was calculated? She continuously fluctuates in SV ranging from a 6.0 to 5.8 to 5.6 and last night got a 5.3 ...I cant make out what connections/skills are being devalued. Is there anywhere online that analyses performances?

Not sure what to think of this start. Wynn, Whittenburg, and Naddour were pretty good on rings, but the Americans are already more than 2 points behind the Japanese after the 1st rotation with GBR nipping at their heels. And China, Korea, Switzerland, and Russia still have to go.

The Russian coach is worse imo. Telling the press her team fell apart because of the judging and other competitors. :rolleyes: Yeah their four falls and multiple step outs had nothing to do with it.

I came up with a 5.3 for her routine in team finals. I have not looked at her routine from competition 1 yet but I will try later.

In team finals I credit 1E, 4D, 1C, 2A for 2.6 DV, 2.5 in CR plus 0.2 in CV = 5.3

She attempted a full turn in Y which I would think should be devalued as she did not hold the leg up long enough. This makes it an A and therefore she would not get CV for the full turn to front aerial later as the turn is a repeated element. Also she attempted a switch ring which was really lacking the proper ring shape, so it's very possible that the D panel recognized this as a regular switch leap, another repeated element. So she has to count two A value parts for dance.

That's how I saw it anyway. Does anyone know if there was enquiry submitted?
 
Didn't the U.S. men get bronze last year? So they can place well if they keep it together.

But we really need to be clutch on HB. And it's coming up next.
 
I'm just reading the remarks that Komova made and she's just really remarkable. Had she fallen only once instead of twice her team probably would have won the bronze medal. Had she not fallen they would have won the bronze. She really is bolder than 10 day old monkey piss. Do they not teach arithmetic in Russia?
 
The three countries that have not faltered are the three countries that are leading. It's anyone's game and it's exciting.

Yes, but I would take that with a grain of salt. The U.S. has been through some high scoring events like vault and p-bars and Japan has been brought some low-scoring events like floor and pommels. Plus, as noted, the U.S. on pommels is always very iffy.

I am thrilled with the 3 event lead that Japan has over China! Go Japan go!
