Really liked Wong’s floor too! Shame they couldn’t take out the arena noise during Malabuyo’s replay.

Would have a tough time choosing between Riley’s bars and Kara’s beam as a specialist option.

I think Riley is a clear choice? No one else we might take could realistically beat Riley for the second bars finalist spot. Suni could beat Kara, and, if we take Grace, she could as well.

Why do all the floor routines contain those multiple wolf turns? it's getting old.

I'd love it if they brought back more older moves than just that one. Real dance on floor. One-arm planges on beam like Shaposhnikova's, or bars dismounts that involve bouncing on your back off the high bar. Filatova's bars mount. I love late 1970's bars because the low bar isn't used as an afterthought. As soon as you get to the era when they started turning it more and more into an imitation of men's high bar that's when it gets boring for me.

Eaker's beam looked really solid tonight but she got hammered on E score (and her D was lower than night one, but then when I judged night one I had a higher D score than she was given, so who knows what the D panel is doing). She would score higher without doing either ring element IMO and I don't know why she is still doing them. To me McCusker is the favourite for the +1. The routine she did tonight would deserve to win the Olympics despite a lower D score. She's so clean and I thought she was underscored a little.

So my pick for Olympics : Simone, Sunisa, Jordan, ? I think final spot is open still & 2 specialists Jade & Riley,
ETA I think Nastia is a great commentator but lousy taste in fashion.
#4 will be a tough choice vs who gets the second specialist spot since at least based on night 2, the top three could go up on all events with no need even to use the fourth gymnast. If Riley can at least get through an all around at trials, I might choose her for the actual team even if she only contributes on bars and then Kara as the specialist. On the other hand, with that selection, I could easily see both "specialists" not making event finals which kind of defeats the purpose. I'm so glad this silly qualification system is getting deep sixed.

Would selecting Riley keep Simone out of the bars final? If so, I don't think that NBC would let them do that-- They will want Simone to hype the possibility that she wins 6 gold medals.

I don’t envy Tom Forster. what happened to Chellsie UB? Not on TV here. It seems to have taped for an hour and cut off. I can stream or watch a repeat tomorrow.

Then NBC would be stupid. The best Simone could get is 6 medals. I can see her winning a bronze or silver but I don’t think she'd get gold. Now this is based off of 2019, so I could be very very wrong.

Jordan is the 2021 "Raisman", in a good way.

I think as many as possible will make it into the selection process. Only 3 gymnasts performed significantly different than the group, Simone, Suni Lee, and Jordan. Jade basically tied for 4th, given for what she is competing.

Simone is unlikely to medal on bars even if she hits. If Riley and Suni are both there, they could go 1-2 and the US could maximize individual medals, which I don't think they've ever done.

It's worth noting that Emma Malabuyo was able to get the 3rd highest Beam score of the whole competition today, higher even than Simone and Sunisa night 1 score. When everyone else outside of the top 3 was all over the map with their event placements, Emma was able to finish 7th, 6th, 7th on UB, BE, and FL. Also worth noting is Shilese earning the 3rd highest Vault total and 5th highest Bars, that is pretty cool. DiCello getting 2nd place on Floor is nothing to sneeze at either!

She fell on her Hindorff (no grasp either). Then she remounted and did her Maloney to free hip and jumped off, like she did night one. Then she didn't finish her routine :(

Nice to see the conspiracy theories coming out. Anyway, Biles was more into her FX tonight than she’s been in a while. I’m starting to like it.

I saw her practicing just the dance parts during US Classic podium training I think, and some of it was really good! She loses it while doing the whole thing though, but maybe it will improve as she competes more.

And honestly, I don't think Simone even wants to have to do bar final, so I don't think that's going to matter to anyone. USAG is going to want to maximize medals, so Suni and Riley are looking pretty good right about now I bet.
