Those who make vague statements (Ashley/Grant) are no better than outright gossipers. Vague statements lend themselves to gossip because of the speculation over what was meant by the vague statement. If they are talking about something or someone specific then they need to say it. The way their tweets were worded were meant to stir drama.

Their tweets may have been about Gracie. Or, they could also have been referring to negative gossip about themselves. Both of them have been the subject of recent unpleasant commentary here on FSU. (Grant, with dr. frog's accusations of not training hard enough; and now Ashley, with her apparent(?) decision to return to Moulin Rouge.) I'd bet they're aware of what's been said here.

Gracie had gotten a really cute kitten before she moved so I don't know if the kitten is with Carly now or moved with Gracie. She might have left him with Carly because of her traveling and everything. She probably misses him, he was a real cutie. I think it was a male, not sure.

Maybe Alexa could give the Gold sisters some tips and create a Twitter account for the kitty. (aka the most fun idea ever). That way if they're apart, Carly can do Twitter updates for the world to see instead of texting pics of the cat to her sister. Cats unify all skaters/fans and also dogs I've noticed. It's the common ground that everyone always seems to find.

They posted it on twitter, so.. I think it's probably directed towards people on twitter. (Plus the candles emoji's are a complete giveaway who Ashley is specifically referring to..I mean duh)

Ashley probably got tired of all the negative stuff being tweeted at her about MR and also the crap being said to Gracie. She went through the ringer last Olympic season, so it was her "warning" that she's not taking any sh!t from people this year if you expect to be on her good side. At least I think it is, usually I'm pretty good at figuring Ashley stuff out.

I think just to the general fan community, including fans on forums. Skaters often become aware, one way or another, of things said about them on Twitter, forums, etc.

Anyways it was her telling people to calm the eff down and trust her, or something. OH gosh, I sincerely hope skaters don't read any of these forums. Some people say the most hurtful, outrageous things. Of course, I tell myself step away from the iPad but do I listen? It's too bad that athletes are exposed to that now, that's one reason I give them so much credit. I give Ashley and Gracie kudos to the way they have handled themselves under all the pressure.

FSU does make the rounds but it's an enter at your own risk mentality for skaters, all of the message boards are really. You'd be surprised how many former skaters/coaches/choreographers/officials/judges/skater family members read here. . Mainly to get early opinions on programs though before it gets too nasty. It would be wise for any competing skaters to stay away this season. That's why having a sense of humor is important and not getting too personal about a skaters business, they're normal people who react to things the same way we do.

I think they should all stay away from social media. At the very least, be clear.... or enjoy the drama.

Yep, thanks for posting. I also saw Grant's tweet and I linked to it in the Champs Camp thread. I think the Plato quote someone posted beneath Grant's words of wisdom is also apt, and should be the motto for the new Olympic season and beyond:

The skaters are not precipitating nor contributing to the gossip, but they certainly have the right to respond to it in whatever form or fashion they prefer. (((Hugs to Gracie)))

Your perception which I totally disagree with. I believe @clairecloutier's response to your comments are apt and on the button. The skaters are clearly asking for the hurtful gossip to cease. They are far from the ones stirring up drama.

People should gossip about important things like Grant and Caroline's cat. The cat could be a star but all anybody cares about is Gracie's drama. A lot of the skaters love cats (just like regular people do). And just like a well behaved cat, trust is important to have in life.

Good point! I mean if Grant really wanted to help, a little obfuscation goes a long way...rather than trying to be noble... he should have just posted a cute kitty video to distract us all with a figurative shinny object... give us a cute kitty to talk about and we talk less of Gracie!

And Gracie and Carly got a kitten named Sterling around Christmas last year... no idea who kitty lives with now

Indeed, anyone and everyone can post cat videos! Hillary Clinton professed to the calming and relaxing effects of watching such videos. You can also rescue some real life kitties and give them a good home. Or feed and help trap/spay-neuter/return strays in your community and give to viable animal humane groups.

Adopting is even better, albeit much more time-consuming and fraught with the joys and ups-and-downs of caring for and loving an animal who loves you back unconditionally but can't stay with you forever.
