I would be thrilled for Kovtun to have just one season skating to his full potential

Inna Goncharenko: Maxim Kovtun has returned to Buyanova
According to the article, Goncharenko started working in Pluschenko's Academy after she left CSKA this January
And now watch Kovtun return to his status as the fed's pet.
Kolyada won medals in almost every competition he entered this season. He has proven his worth. But what about darling Kolyada???

Kovtun has no medals from Worlds or GPF IIRC.
My first thought when I heard she wasn't stopping and was having tryouts was that she'd look great with Soloviev, and that it was too bad that could never happen.I just though that Pogrebinsky and Soloviev would look good together so I mentioned it![]()
Tatiana Tarasova is on Instagram now, she sometimes posts interesting pics from her photo archive

Her first position is still something https://www.instagram.com/p/BhMSH4-lSVp/?taken-by=t.a.tarasova

Both Valieva and Khromykh have shown some promise in the past. A year ago Valieva won younger novice nationals and Khromykh placed third but this season that just ended was not very good for either of them; they didn’t qualify for older novice nationals. (Just for comparison, Muraveva who placed second at the same nationals was fourth at older novice nationals this past season. Even though all three of them are the same age, Muraveva is born August so she will be junior eligible only a season after Valieva and Khromykh.) With so many great girls becoming eligible evey season, it was really time to do some changes for Valieva and Khromykh, if they want to stay in the group of top girls for their age group. Let’s see what Tutberidze will do with them the next season.Rumors say that two novice girls moved to Eteri: Kamila Valieva and Maia Khromykh. Both girls will turn 12 very soon, so they very well maybe our 2022 Olympic medalists
Some of you may remember Valieva as an adorable white swan from few years ago![]()
Am not sure at this case Kovtun had much choice - being in Pluschenko's academy under his `best friend Pluschenko' after all that was said in the press by Kovtun and by Pluschenko about each other does not sound like a good idea. Also AFAIK Pluschenko's academy doesn't have a full size rink and am not sure Kovtun's technique of `going full speed, putting his nose on the ice and taking off' for the quads does not demand the 60m ice. Belonging to TSKA it made sense he remained there and Buyanova is still (AFAIK) the head coach there. So why not...
thanks for info! i've seen the girls at local comps (via youtube), they are not bad. my take on this: Valieva's chances of getting to the top are much higher than Khromykh, but let's hope they both do well.Rumors say that two novice girls moved to Eteri: Kamila Valieva and Maia Khromykh. Am not quite sure what is the current scandal nor how the scandal or a lack of such makes the smaller rink an olympic sized rinkI see, that makes sense. Not to mention with the whole scandal behind Plushenko right now, I think going back to Buyanova is best.

thanks! Scherbakova is a talented dancer, following instructions, and is concentrating on dance moves which she does quite well. Kostornaia is a lot of "show, posturing, attitude", and not enough flexibility, precision, fluidity in her moves. She should listen to the coach's instructions more instead of "enjoying herself in the mirror"..Aliona Kostornaia and Anna Scherbakova in the dance class

I think Erokhov (now 18) will be transferring from Jr. to Sr., and a more likely candidate for the 3rd spot.I don't think that will happen, unfortunately. Maxim Kovtun is a talented skater, but I think he was not working hard enough consistently. To me it seemed like he was slacking off and then tried to catch up, overdid it, suffered an injury etc. And even when he landed his jumps once in a while his programs and his overall skating were not at the same level as of the top skaters. To me, Mikhail Kolyada and Dmitri Aliev have far more potential. But now they have secured a third spot at Worlds, maybe that inspires Maxim and the others. But none of these men are consistent in competition.
I know. Sigh. Between unfortunate circumstances and his work ethic, he's just never quite been there. The pressure on the Russian men to come up to the current level of the ladies is difficult. There are talented skaters who just aren't good competitors. Yet. But, there is always hope! Delusional hope, may be, but hope none the less.I don't think that will happen, unfortunately. Pluschenko was asked about "future of Russian men skaters" and he said back April 2014 that Kovtun is "a good, but not great"... or "mediocre" in other words; yet he praised Hanyu and called him "future of men's skating" and congratulated Menshov and Voronov for European medals.I know I'm super late, but what did Plushenko and Kovtun have a fight about? They said stuff about each other to the press?
