Sometimes Tarasova is full of shite.
Well certainly don't like the 'eat less' comment. On the growth, she doesn't look taller to me but i did notice in the last 2 months that she's definitely hitting puberty and getting a little more of a figure. Based on nothing i can put my finger on besides intuition, i think Zagitova is going to have a harder time with the transition through puberty than Medvedeva did.

Who would've thought Russia would medal in men's at this Worlds, but not in ladies??

I must say, I'm becoming a fan of Kolyada. In this new-look Worlds, without the longtime big 3 of Hanyu, Chan, and Fernandez present, Kolyada really stood out with his extension, line, and basic skating quality. Which, to be frank, is miles ahead of some of the more hyped quad phenoms. Potential rules changes this year could also work in Kolyada's favor to make him a real contender in years to come. Although he's GOT to become more consistent. (I'm not sure his inconsistency is due to quads--some skaters are just inconsistent no matter what level of content they're attempting.)

I only got to see part of Aliev's long program so far, but I like him too.

I like him very much this season too! He has a lovely softness to his jumps when they're on and he doesn't just run across the ice like some guys. Dmitri Aliev is good too. It's just a matter of consistency.

Tarasova says Zagitova grew 3cm since Olympics (which is something I wondered about as well, I thought she looked slightly taller here). She also says she needs to eat less. :shuffle:

Seriously, that's a load of crap. Alina really can't be more than 100 pounds, and I've seen skaters much bigger than her score greatly. To starve a girl so she stays in the body of a 12-year-old forever...nothing new but certainly horrible. Oh, the horror stories of Russian ladies...again.
Maybe Kaetlyn Osmond, a healthy, natural adult woman, winning Worlds is a true sign from the universe.

LOL 100lbs? I was thinking more 85-90....

:wall: So now Zagitova is getting sh!t because she dared to eat a gram of ice cream after her Olympic win?

Maybe :TT1: needs to take her own eating advice, and learn that puberty IS a thing, way to treat your Olympic champ

That is NOT what Tarasova said. She used "incomplete sentence" which was translated INCORRECTLY.
Here is the original article: https://www.championat.com/other/ne...osla-na-tri-santimetra-nado-pomenshe-est.html

This is what Tarasova said (she was quoting Zagitova, what Zagitova said about "puberty and eating").
"После Олимпийских игр Загитова выросла на три сантиметра. Она этого не понимает. Она сама говорит, что никакого пубертата нет, надо поменьше есть. Нет, пубертат есть, он вот так ломает".

TAT (about Zagitova): After the Olympics Zagitova grew 3 cm. She has not yet realized it (the impact of it). She herself (quoting Zagitova) said that "there is not such thing as (an effect of) puberty, just watch what you eat". (now TAT speaking her own words): No! there is such thing as "affect of puberty", and it can break you just like that."

It is Zagitova herself who said "Puberty is imaginary. Just watch what goes into your mouth, and eat less".

I am so glad for Kolyada :cheer2:

(Now maybe the Russian media will STFU about the Olympics.)

ETA: And :respec: for Zagorski/Guerriero for placing within 4 points of Stepanova/Bukin, who've had a head start, and for making the most of this season!

I am totally impressed with Z&G this year, they had an excellent first Worlds, and overall, a great season! I hope they continue to work with Tchernyshev next year, I really see them as a great up and coming team in Russian ice dance.

They didn't understand Tarasova's words. Tarasova said, that Zagitova said: "I just need to eat less".
"But puberty exists" - says Tarasova (and etc.)
They took these words from her commenting for TV:

What about you? Smart and nice? :)
This is illogical. You already said the translation is inaccurate. It is obvious then that Rafter made his conclusion and remark based on "incorrect information". You pointed out the mis-translation, so Rafter is not at fault for drawing conclusions based on faulty info..:shuffle:

I think, that we shouldn't hurry up to say bad things, when we don't know much. It often can be, that we don't know something.

I don't like only rfisher's comment. Maybe I should have posted 2 posts.

Even if the Russian media or "hater" fans don't STFU, I hope Kolyada can still enjoy being a World medalist (more than an Olympic team medalist). I also hope he gets 2 new programs for next season. :shuffle:
Congrats to Zagorski/Guerreiro to their 8th place! :cheer:
I was really impressed with how they skated in Milan. The switch to Kustarova/Alekseeva seemed to have helped them a lot to solidify their levels. 6th highest TES in the Free Dance. Great job!
Tiffani and Jonathan really took advantage of the opportunities they were given in the first 3 months of this year and I look forward to seeing them skate next season! :)

It seems that the journalists misunderstood Tarasova’s words, I’ll have a closer look on that interview tomorrow , but I’m quite sure that it was a reference to Zagitova’s previous interview (“there’s no such thing as puberty” (c) ), not Tarasova’s words.

I haven't seen that Zagitova's interview, but as for Tarasova's words, they are taken from her commentary for TV. She quoted Zagitova.

alexei.yagudin: We were risking to be late for our plane, yet we were watching and were anxious till the end! @azagitova, don't be upset!!! I know, that this season was difficult for you! Anyway you are the best in this season and you are the Olympic Champion!!!! You will have other Worlds in your life!!! We are with you

After the Olympics Alexei did an interview with Medvedeva, but in his instagram he answered to those who were saying Evgenia should have been the winner:

alexei.yagudin: NOOOO!!!!! Alina is #1!!! Olympic champion!!! End of conversation
alexei.yagudin: not just Evgenia deserved the title!!! All of the ladies deserved, but Alina was BETTER than the rest of the field

I don't like hearing that at all. :( I hope she has some sane adult around to talk sense into her. I'd like to think Eteri learned something from what happened to Julia, but I don't have a good feeling about it.

Actually, what Alina said in the interview, and how it was "shortened" in the press is yet another issue... :D

ZAG: "Yes, there are difficulties (in regards to growing taller). The coach and i are evaluating what needs to be adjusted in the technique, not to regress. And that helps. In regards to puberty and the assumption that it will make you fat, i think it is an invention. Just shut your mouth and don't eat (a russian idiom meaning "watch what you eat").... or at least (do that) to some degree (pay attention to your diet). I do eat, but in moderate/small portions".

So :D basically what happened:
Alina said (paraphrasing): Puberty does not = getting fat. Just watch your diet.
Russian press: Alina said she does not believe in puberty, does not eat.
Tarasova: argues against Alina's comment, and repeats what the Press quoted incorrectly for Alina.
Foreign press: takes "the wrong translation" and attributes "Alina is fat, stop eating" to Tarasova.
Chat boards go nuts...... :biggrinbo

....... that's how international conflicts start on more important issues....:saint:

I read a couple of references about Kolyada/Konstantinova's coach saying that they don't practice much... I don't know if those were being taken out of context or not... can anyone explain?

The way that I heard it, it was that she was kind of bragging that they don't need to practice much, which sounds pretty strange so I wanted to know more.

 I love the boy, but if he didn't manage to medal in this splatfest, I was going to say the federation should just retire him forever.
