From Russia with love [#28]: Autumn to Winter 2017

Tzareva does not see a problem in her approach/behavior in (K-n-K), it's an "internal family issue"..

Tzareva: If you are an elite level athlete, you must be tough, it's your job. Yes, i was pulling her (Anna's) strings (nagging at her), if i did not do that, she (Anna) would not have produced even the first 4 elements. A confrontation/argument brings the truth out, because it is difficult for an athlete to objectively assess oneself, and yet at competitions an athlete's goal is to win, regardless of how complicated the training process becomes when it involves injuries.

===

Pogoriliaya is back on the ice, training for GP in USA.

"Today Anya is back on the ice, had her practice, did her jumps, so far does not feel any pain. we are continuing to get ready for GP SA" (per Tzareva's words to TASS).

"Сегодня Аня вышла на лёд, провела тренировку, сделала прыжки. Боль пока отпустила. Продолжаем подготовку к этапу Гран-при в США", – приводит слова Царёвой ТАСС.

According to the Ambesi/Dolfini podcast #5 (in translation), Ambesi said in the Skate Canada preview section at the end:

I’ve been told that Pogorilaya seemed to have lost motivation to train at some point this summer, she’s also on bad terms with her coach, so I really don’t know what to expect from her at Skate Canada.

The Russian men need to take whatever the ladies are having :D

They were great as juniors but really have struggled in the transition to seniors. It's been happening to just about every Russian man from Voronov/Gachinski/Kovtun to the current crop

Kolyada's SP at China is another in a long line of performances that many Russian men have done that show yes they do have what it takes. When their on their just as good as the best but unfortunately they don't show it much :(

Russian ice dance is in a shocking state
It would be nice if zhulin was banned from being a coach immediately! Or maybe b/s lose the Russian title they have a ridiculous lock on. Some People here say Russian ice dance is rebuilding but That is wrong it is totally disintegrating!

There are a lot of talented junior teams though. It maybe looks bad now, but there is a lot of talent coming up. Hopefully, one of them can make it through. I`m especially excited about Ushakova/Nekrasov, they are only 15 and 17, but have already the top Free Dance score in the junior ranks. Then there are Polishchuk/Vakhnov with their deep edges or Shpilevaya/Smirnov with their amazing lifts.

It has been this way for 7 years. The number one Russian team is still one that was senior in 2008. It’s so bad. The program is actually bad at all levels.
