My nephew has just informed me that finishing 2nd in the group is more beneficial in terms of the draw for England what with some of the big teams potentially finishing 2nd in their groups. So as long as we beat Panama he reckons we shouldn't be too bothered about winning the final match ?

The Germany-Sweden match was insane. Watched it in an Irish pub here in East Frisia (northwestern part of Germany) and it really was something. One second we were prepared to be out of the tournament, and the next Kroos came with his beauty of a goal. Talk about an emotional rollercoaster.

Sigh, Jerome Boateng. Once I saw him sent off for getting mad and head-butting an opponent who took a dive in the box. In the 85th minute, with Bayern up 4-0. The very definition of pointless.
