Having grown tired of two same samey holiday meals a month apart, our new tradition is that for Christmas Eve we choose a different cuisine every year. Last year was Italian, and our main dish was lasagna.

This year is French dishes. Do you have any suggestions?

Honestly, just some good cheese / assiette de fromage. Tarte au maroilles and similar cheese tarte dishes are tasty and more uniquely French to me.

Steak tartare with frites
This is typically called steak/filet americain in Belgium. The number of times on business travel in Brussels I've had to warn a fellow American it's not what they think it is...

A FrenchCanadian neighbour told us of a croissant bakery in St. Boniface (the french area in our city). They are simply out of this world. So much better than anything else that I have ever had that was called a croissant - more like what I had in Paris when there with our daughter. Their soup is also divine.
