Since I'm retired, I have been watching the prior 19 seasons of Project Runway on Peacock. My favorites so far are Season 1, Season 4(Christian Siriano), Seasons 8 and 9 (Mondo Guerra). Flipping between the regular and Allstars seasons and it is interesting to see has fashion has changed.

I've attached an article on how grueling the show is and other interesting facts as well as a Tim Gunn interview on how disgusting Harvey Weinstein and his organization were towards the contestants.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article:
For its 21st season, "Top Chef" also will have a new host: Kristen Kish, a seasoned chef, cookbook author and cooking-competition TV show host and producer, including winning the Season 10 edition of "Top Chef." (And she has Midwestern cred: Born in South Korea, she grew up in Kentwood, Michigan.) [...]
Bravo described the new season's setting as "the energetic and unique culinary scenes in Milwaukee and Madison. [...]
Season 21 of "Top Chef" reportedly will be filmed later this year, and air in early 2024 on Bravo and the Peacock streaming service.

According to SAG-AFTRA national executive director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, the AMPTP's proposal on AI included allowing background actors to be scanned, paid for one day's work, and then be used however they want in perpetuity for the rest of the universe forever.

Good for the actors for going on strike. And I hope this helps everyone see what's exactly at stake with their shiny new AI toys.

Or they shouldn't get scanned at all and be allowed to actually work.
I don't think that's realistic. Movie makers already do things like film a "crowd" and then duplicate people to make the crowd look bigger. I believe that any time one's likeness is used, they should get paid but I don't think requiring studios to ignore new technology is the answer to anything.

These actors should get residuals for every time their likeness gets used IMO.
Don’t they? Or didn’t they? I remember that being why Shannen Doherty's character was never referenced or shown after she left Charmed.

Actors don't want to just get paid, though. They want to work, too. Regular work for background actors is not just a chance to make some money, it's also a chance to maybe find a bigger and better role that pays a little more.
Aside from that, you don't become an actor or performer for the money. You do it because you love what you're doing and you're passionate about it. And I doubt that you will find many if any performers who would tell that if they got their likeness scanned and would be paid a living wage for its usage while they don't have to work a day in their life anymore they'd do it.

A performers' body is also the product that they sell. They would essentially be signing away their copyright to their product.

And your image could be used in ways you wouldn't want. Suppose another Leni Riefenstahl type came along -- it's not impossible -- and used you in her pro-fascist film. It's an extreme example, but sometimes extreme examples can show what's at stake.

Is it that extreme? We had a president who used and uses music without permission. I have no problem imagining him using actors' images to cut ads if he were able to get his hands on those images.

I don't think that's why. I've never seen an actor get a credit for just their character being talked about. But Colbie Smuthers does get a credit on Secret Invasion whenever they show a flashback of her. So I think you have to be onscreen.

I think this is what Tesla was referring to as the character was mentioned but not shown (even though it could have been worked into the show very easily).

I vaguely recall that when FOX aired a 90210 retrospective prior to its very last episode, they had to digitally scrubs all traces of Doherty during montages as she did not consent to her image. I guess a retrospective is different from a regular episode.

I watch a Canadian talk show and they had a segment on this. They established a scenario we could have our own “streaming channel” where we could ask AI to create a new romcom starring Julia Roberts. Not Pretty Woman but a brand new movie that features her. Wow! That’s like having a skating channel where we ask AI to create Torvill and Dean do a Pattern Dance or Chan do figures.

The Blacklist .... series finale so I will put it in spoiler in case someone hasn't watched it yet.

what the ever loving heck was that. a bull?? he gets gored by a BULL??? after all the near death, torture, mysterious illness what not he's been thru, he out walkin' in a field and gets gored by a bull and THAT is what takes him out??!!!! perhaps there is some symbolism here from all his little soliloquies that I've missed, and I didn't always pay super close attention while I was watching every episode the last 10 years .... but he gets gored by a bull ??!!!?? maybe I'll go back and watch the last season again and pay closer attention but I'm so confused.

I just discovered High School on Amazon Prime, I really hope there is a season 2. I like Tegan and Sara’s music but even if it’s not your thing it is a great coming-of-age story and has a nuanced parent’s story too.

I watched until the end. It was so-so. I feel that the early seasons of the series were the best, since there were fewer characters. IMO it started to go downhill after the prison episodes.

I don't see Daryl Dixon as a compelling leading man.

Apparently both Dead City (meh so far) and Daryl Dixon have two seasons planned. The power of the brand, I guess.
