This is so heartbreaking. She deserved a full evaluation at an academic epilepsy center. They may have been able to more definitively diagnose her and with successful treatment she may have been able to keep skating. Unfortunately she is in Russia and did not have access to this type of care. There is also a high degree of depression as a comorbidity of epilepsy.
For someone who practices on the field this is just your worst nightmare scenario but not uncommon.
