Am saying that they did not need to up the drama.
And neither do you!
Am saying that they did not need to up the drama.
IMO calling Family Emergency was dramatic and insincere.
According to Alexa the problems with Chris were ongoing and had been for a while. An emergency is an unexpected and often dangerous situation requiring immediate action.
Their situation was known to them and they were managing it.
Not saying they should have taken different action. Am saying that they did not need to up the drama.
Just to clarify, the initial tweet said “family illness”. Nothing about emergency.
i agree. The wording of the USFS announcement seems very carefully chosen. It‘s not some vague statement that the non-retiring partner will be “evaluating options” or whatever; it sounds like they are pretty sure she will continue.Just my opinion but I'm betting Alexa already has someone they've approached in regard to her continuing and trying for 2020. Otherwise, they'd have just announced they are retiring. I would expect an announcement after Worlds especially if the guy is in a current partnership. We've seen this scenario many times before.
I'm with you on this. They took their time making the announcement and there is some kind of plan already in place. I think it is good to say no more until after Worlds.Just my opinion but I'm betting Alexa already has someone they've approached in regard to her continuing and trying for 2020. Otherwise, they'd have just announced they are retiring. I would expect an announcement after Worlds especially if the guy is in a current partnership. We've seen this scenario many times before.
What they said was "family illness". That implies someone in their family was ill. If a competitor is ill, then they normally say "due to illness." The whole thing was weird and I am guessing someone at USFS screwed up. Hence the tweet being deleted. It would be an emergency if Chris didn't feel well enough to compete, or didn't feel well enough to compete safely with his partner/wife. Depression can be an emergency too.

OMG who cares?IMO calling Family Emergency was dramatic and insincere.
I hadn't heard that Harley split with his Russian partner.
^^^^ Say what, when did this happen?
I just asked 3 weeks ago why they weren't on the roster at 4CC and I was told she was injured.....
What was Katias injury?
Harley and his Australian partner Katia...
Granted that Katia became an Australian citizen in 2017.
I wonder whether Kailani Craine would ever consider switching to pairs? She'd also make an excellent ice dancer, IMO.
Chris Knierim, 32, said that his passion for skating had waned while injuries had mounted and said that forced him to consider his future. He also said he's been receiving treatment for depression.
Which makes her Australian. End of story.
Me.OMG who cares?
