Adelina Sotnikova cleared of doping charge by IOC

The fact that she scored waaay above her personal best, plus never winning any major GOLD medal after (and even before) the OGM, is very telling. I’m sorry Adelina received unnecessary bullying, but her Olympic gold, doping or not, will remain very questionable for many years to come.
Only to some. She won. Who cares what you think.

Thanks for this.

For all the talk of the LP comparisons, I forgot all details of her short.
My only nit pick is her shoulders were high for a lot of the skate, which is likely nerves and partly her skating style. Outside of that there were a lot of great things in this program, especially her speed, the size of the first toe and the final position on her flying camel, something I connected more to Farris, but she does much better.

That was an excellent short.
And nice lines, fast/centered spins, and fire. How nice it was to see her live up to all the hype and reach her potential. Definitely an excellent short.

Honestly, the Sotnikova - Kim result reminds a tad of the Chen - Wagner result at 2018 US Nationals.

If each event was the only skating competition you'd ever seen, the results would make sense. Kim only had six triples in the free and an L3 layback in both programs. Sotnikova had a 3 point base value advantage over her when both programs are added together. Chen - Wagner, they were even technically, but if you didn't know their PCS history, it wouldn't seem so shocking.

Which wouldnt apply to either of those examples. Despite it being the best she has ever skated Sotnikova still clearly "screwed up" more than Kim did at the Games, with a bad stumble out of one of her jumps, along with her triple flutz-triple toe< which was wrongfully scored as if it were an outstanding triple lutz-triple toe and given almost the same points as Kim's vastly superior one. The same would apply to bronze medalist Kostner who was also flawless over 2 programs, thus "screwing up" far less than Sotnikova.

As for Chen and Wagner, again Chen was the one who "screwed up" far more with 4 jumps called as having some error or flaw to them vs Wagner who only had the singled lutz and one other questionable one.

Why do you think Sotnikova never competed again in a major event after Olympics? Obviously she could not replicate the same inflated scores outside of Russia. Whether she doped or not, her medal was undeserved.

Not much to "think about"...... :D http://www.paparazzi.ru/upload/wysiwyg_files/img/1416387508.jpg

as far as "deserved" - she has it, and it hangs on her wall.. will stay there... Here, enjoy! https://img.gazeta.ru/files3/379/10459379/RIAN_02384778.HR.ru-pic905-895x505-63577.jpg

Among singles skaters who won Olympic gold in the last 30 years, Baiul, Lipinski, Kulik, Arakawa, and Lysacek never competed in a major event again. Does that constitute evidence or even cause for suspicion that they were doping?

What about those who skipped that year's Worlds but came back later? Or those who did continue to compete but never achieved the same level of results?

The complete distain for Adelina is crazy to me. People can not agree with the judging or judges. However, the hatred for Adelina winning the gold medal is dumb to me after 4 years.

Adelina skated two fantastic programs. She appears to be a very nice young lady. She's a hard worker who came from hard financial situation.

Funny how folks talk about how the Russian Fed "bought" the medal for her yet forget how that same Russian Fed. dissed her in the team competition.
