The only thing about her costume that is weird to me is that after its debut LF-B said that she was uncomfortable being so exposed as she usually wears a longer skirt so she was planning to change it, but then she never did. Maybe she got used to it, but it seems that LF-B herself thought it was too much, at least initially. As for exposure, we’ve definitely seen as much if not more skin from other ice dancers (Navka, anyone?) and athletes from other sports. Plus it’s hard for me to read her as being sexualized when she’s skating with an overtly gay man in opera length gloves. There is no sexual tension between them at all (not that there should be) and therefore I don’t get sexualized vibes from her costume.

People have been bitching about this costume all season. The color is wrong. It's not cut well. It has gills. The design over the breasts is weird. The bootie shorts are too short.

I don't understand, with all these complaints, how we have come down to this inane discussion of "If you don't like the costume, you are a prude" vs. "Think about the children!"

The shorts are not flattering. The entire costume is not flattering. What people wear in clubs, whether other athletes are showing less or more skin, whether or not children are watching, doesn't change that. It's a bad costume.

but that's not as funny as hearing someone say they immediately went to confession or whatever, I put that in my work chat I was so tickled by it

I'm not at all bothered by the amount of skin on display. I dislike the costume because it looks like what a first year design student would come up with, given the assignment "make her look a bit curvier". The "cupcake tops" meant to look like boobs just emphasize her... lack of bust. The weird "gills" DON'T make her hips look curvier. And that shade of pink ... reads "baby girl", at a time when that's a read you really DO NOT want to be giving.

ETA: Don't jump me for body shaming, because I never said anything was wrong with her body type. Just the costume design.
