Or maybe some SKA where they could actually use an Ice Dance Rhythm.

When retired skaters return to competition and are better than the current skaters, the problem is with the current skaters not those returning to competition.

If PapCiz had stayed in and were challenging ChoBat for OGM, people would be excited. If FBCiz had teamed up because Sorenson wasn't accused of SA but had a career-ending injury (or just didn't want to skate anymore), people would be excited.

It's the ick of the situation combine with it coming out of the blue at the last possible second, that has people worked up, I think.

I realize that literally none of these skaters was santient during the 90ies, but even on that background Car/Pon are absolutely horrible. 100% Pure Love is a fun song which they gave nothing with.
Really didn't like it, even compared to the rest.

I was worried the last couple of years wondering who would take C/B's place not so much as the number 1 US team in the future but which team wcould be a contender for podiums at Worlds since the US has almost had at least one contender for the podium at Worlds for the last 20+ years. Now i think we have our answer. To be honest i didn't see the answer with our current teams until this surge from Z/K but now i think i can see them continuing this momentum for the next 4 years.

There's a junior team waiting to plow everyone down too.

Agreed. And I know this couldn't have happened timing-wise but if they'd come back the previous year and help earn a 3rd spot that would have helped too. (Like V/M did IIRC).

Well Scott and Maddie seem happy with Carreira/Ponomarenko. They gave it everything. I'm okay with the tech score being behind La/La. Will need to watch again to compare to Smart/Dieck.

So what. The fact of the matter is that it's up to the other skaters to up their own game and beat them on the ice. If they can't, that's their problem.
