2025 Cup of China Rhythm Dance PBP - Rhythm is a Danger

That transition in the music cut to Rhythm is a Dancer was really well done.

Also this is reminding me that I need to add more 90's eurodance to my main Spotify playlist.

Ren/Xing - Love that blue, but his collar flapping up and down at times is distracting - someone put a stitch in it or get some fabric glue. Skating-wise they're a bit rough around the edges, but they're presenting well and technically not too bad. Pity about his trip.

Sequential Twizzles W:4 M:4
Midline Step Sequence W:2 M:2 - knee slide into 5 second stop went all wrong

Rotational Lift 4

Choreo Rhythm Sequence

This might be close between the Chinese couples, but will depend on the deductions for the error in the midline step sequence.

59.74 = 2nd Place

And this is why knee slides have no place in a midline step sequence.
Eh, anything that has a degree of risk and therefore missing the element is good by me. It's hard enough to separate most of these teams.

Xiao/He were announced by IAM as having joined their school in July - surprising the CFSA trusted sending another team there after the Liu issues.

Choreo Rhythm Sequence !
Rotational Lift 3

High energy performance, but the skating was too upright, and that's reflected in the levels on the elements.

58.61 = 3rd Place

Xiao/He - So China is just sending all their dance teams to Montreal? Oh boy, the music slowed right down there...and so did the skaters. Picked it up again for the final 30 seconds.

Xiao/He's music on the ISU site says the second song is It Feels so Good by Sonique and John Belofsky but that was definitely Be My Lover by La Bouche

Maybe the official transfer happened just now, but they have been there at least for the last two years
That's what I thought which is why I was a bit surprised to see IAM announcing it earlier this week. Not that their time at IAM seems to be helping improve them a lot. :(

Lim/Quan - More playing with the tempo of the music. Is it the suit jacket making him look hunched? I like the idea for this program but it's looking a bit like hard work.Technically they're doing okay though. Enjoyed it.

Not sure what I think about that rather aggressive crotch-grab from Ye which may have been one of the only memorable parts of that RD.

Fun program, and used the music really well which is not surprising given their performance abilities. The difference in skating skills between them still favours Lim, and that's also reflected in the levels.

73.68 = 1st Place

I adore Lim/Quan's RD: they have moves while they're skating, not just while they're standing in place in front of the judges.

Ye's suit looks like it fits a little strangely, but the difference between Lim/Quan and the three teams that skated before is pretty apparent. Granted for the other two Chinese teams they are pretty new.
