2022 U.S. Stars on Ice Tour

According to the SOI home page, the costume designer is Mathieu Caron this time! He works for many Montreal ice dancers, Uno, and Alysa Liu.
That is great news! I felt the costuming for the show had taken a bit of a down turn since Jef Billings passed. I haven’t loved any of the new costumes really (though they return to the well of costumes past plenty of times too ). I’m excited to see what Mathieu creates for the show!

There's a brief mention of the costumes in this AP story:
“The group numbers, we were working endlessly on them with the cast, and they are high energy and have great song choices, and the costumes are phenomenal,” says Knierim, not giving away what those outfits might be. “We have a pretty wide range of costumes for the finale -- all of the skaters wear something very unique and custom made for themselves. It is very much a costume, like a piece of art.”

There's also mention of an AC/DC group number, which appears to have replaced the "Kite" program used in SOI Japan.

Pleasantly surprised! I wonder if Caron is doing the other group number costumes, too.

I'm loving the new costumes, so much better than last year's "90s Throwback"

Found some clips from the Fort Myers show filmed by a Nathan fan...

Scroll down this thread for parts of Nathan's performances - "Space Song" (debuted at SOI Japan) / "Rocketman" / group number to "I'm Still Standing" (joined by Chock/Bates :D): https://twitter.com/njakrngr/status/1514761266241363969

Jason Brown's "Sinnerman" (Rohene Ward revised it for SOI) - part 1: https://twitter.com/njakrngr/status/1514779388553748487

M&G looks totally different this year. For the safety and health of the participants, no autographs or photos with skaters are allowed and the skaters are actually behind the rope, being 6 or more feet away from the participating fans.;)

Is there a discount for M&G ticket? Of course not. Hey, I bet that Jason Brown will wave at you adorably from way behind the ropes! I can picture him now. He’ll make up for the distance with the gusto of his waves!!!

They shouldn't have bothered with a meet and greet this year. Maybe when tickets went on sale, they were thinking things would be good enough by April to do what they've done in the past, but that was a big leap considering where we were in January. They did not post the M and G details until after tickets went on sale, which isn't fair. Cost is a bit cheaper than previous years but still.

I didn't buy a ticket for M and G for health/safety concerns...I assumed people would be gathered unmasked...and glad I didn't when I read the guidelines.

If they are doing some sort of organized program, like skaters answering fan questions with a moderator, that might make up for the lack of personal interaction but if the skaters are just saying hi and waving from 6 feet away, that's pointless.

I agree, it's kind of ??? People pay to interact with the skaters. They can't even take pictures.

Looks like photos are allowed from what I’ve seen on IG, but it’s just with the skaters posed in the background, six feet away.

I drove 3 hours to go to the Fort Myers show - loved it! My first time seeing my faves Nathan, Mirai and Alysa in person! All of the skaters got lots of love from the audience, especially Jason and Nathan (of course!). Alexa and Brandon were awesome too, they did several spectacular throws in their numbers (including a split triple twist right in front of my section, so cool)! Alysa was delightful with her Itzy number, Mariah and Karen were sheer elegance and grace. As was Mirai, who was also a joy to watch!

Vincent performing his SP to "Vincent" was very moving. Throughout his performance I couldn't help thinking how his Olympic dreams in Men's Singles were derailed. ?

Hubbell/Donahue and Chock and Bates were superb. I especially enjoyed Madison and Evan's Astronaut and Alien FD!

Jason brought the house down with "Sinnerman"! In person and from the 8th row in my section, I could really see the special qualities that Jason has. He truly deserves all of those high PCS scores! His intricacies, flexibility, transitions, etc. are truly next level! Same for Karen and Mariah!

Eta: During the Zamboni intermission, Scott was shown on video talking about his adoption story. A representative from Holt International then came out. After expanding on Scott's adoption story, he requested sponsors for children in need the world over, who were also trying to get adopted. He asked anyone who wanted to help to raise their hand, and volunteers around the arena would hand out pamphlets with a child's picture and their story. There was also an envelope for making your pledge of $39.00 per month.

All of the group numbers, especially at the beginning and at the end, were lots of fun!

The crowd stood on it's feet for Nathan after his famous "Rocketman" number. A well-deserved tribute for the Olympic champion who brought home the gold for Team USA! Nathan's "Rocketman" was my favorite performance of the night, especially his brilliant step sequence! I wish that he'd also performed his "Mozart" FS, but perhaps that's asking too much! In any event, I loved Nathan's Olympic FS and the fact that he did several jumps in front of my section, including one of his (two) backflips of the night! I also loved how the show segued from Nathan's FS??? to an Elton John group number with a medley of his famous songs, and the cast in Elton John glasses and costumes! Amazing finale! It was a magical evening and well worth the drive for me! I'll see them much closer Saturday in Orlando! ????⛸⛸

P.S. I splurged and purchased the souvenir program signed by the cast, and I also bought an autographed photo of Nathan. ?

Will Ilia, Isabeau and the Browns be added to any of the tour’s later shows? I might buy a ticket to see & cheer them.

I'd be surprised. I don't think SOI usually adds junior world champs to any tour stops. If there were local stops for Ilia (DC or Baltimore) and Isabeau (Philadelphia) then maybe, since they did win medals at Nats; but the Browns don't even have that, so I can't see any of them being added to any shows. Next year, perhaps.
