I drove 3 hours to go to the Fort Myers show - loved it! My first time seeing my faves Nathan, Mirai and Alysa in person! All of the skaters got lots of love from the audience, especially Jason and Nathan (of course!). Alexa and Brandon were awesome too, they did several spectacular throws in their numbers (including a split triple twist right in front of my section, so cool)! Alysa was delightful with her Itzy number, Mariah and Karen were sheer elegance and grace. As was Mirai, who was also a joy to watch!
Vincent performing his SP to "Vincent" was very moving. Throughout his performance I couldn't help thinking how his Olympic dreams in Men's Singles were derailed. ?
Hubbell/Donahue and Chock and Bates were superb. I especially enjoyed Madison and Evan's Astronaut and Alien FD!
Jason brought the house down with "Sinnerman"! In person and from the 8th row in my section, I could really see the special qualities that Jason has. He truly deserves all of those high PCS scores! His intricacies, flexibility, transitions, etc. are truly next level! Same for Karen and Mariah!
Eta: During the Zamboni intermission, Scott was shown on video talking about his adoption story. A representative from Holt International then came out. After expanding on Scott's adoption story, he requested sponsors for children in need the world over, who were also trying to get adopted. He asked anyone who wanted to help to raise their hand, and volunteers around the arena would hand out pamphlets with a child's picture and their story. There was also an envelope for making your pledge of $39.00 per month.
All of the group numbers, especially at the beginning and at the end, were lots of fun!
The crowd stood on it's feet for Nathan after his famous "Rocketman" number. A well-deserved tribute for the Olympic champion who brought home the gold for Team USA! Nathan's "Rocketman" was my favorite performance of the night, especially his brilliant step sequence! I wish that he'd also performed his "Mozart" FS, but perhaps that's asking too much! In any event, I loved Nathan's Olympic FS and the fact that he did several jumps in front of my section, including one of his (two) backflips of the night! I also loved how the show segued from Nathan's FS??? to an Elton John group number with a medley of his famous songs, and the cast in Elton John glasses and costumes! Amazing finale! It was a magical evening and well worth the drive for me! I'll see them much closer Saturday in Orlando! ????⛸⛸
P.S. I splurged and purchased the souvenir program signed by the cast, and I also bought an autographed photo of Nathan. ?
