WHY? :fragile: :wuzrobbed
I just watched. Wakaba’s priblem was not just the 3ax fall. She was somewhat ungraceful, compared to those who scored higher.
Others were truly more musical and engaged in their programs. (Yes, even Kaori was artistically sensitive!)

Rika said that her jump content in FS will depend on how she did in SP. In SP she had a step out, now i wonder how it will affect her FS choice of jumps.

Despite not being clean, Rika has an eight-point lead after the short.

I don’t see any reason not to go for it here.

Fuji TV, in their morning news showed a clip of Rika after her SP.
She said "Although there were minor problems in the SP, the 4S option is still open."

The good: Satoko’s jumps look like they are bigger. And the program is an absolute masterpiece, totally deserving of mid-9’s in PCS. That type of experiment in the SP last season needs to never, ever come back.

The bad: Even with higher jumps, the Lutz technique is still ridiculous. Way prerotated, way short. I think it should’ve been at the very least 3Lz<+3T< but as always, I think the argument is there for << on the Lz.

The thing about PCS in the short is that it means so little when comparing to other top skaters that deserve scores in the 8s or maybe even at 9.00. It’s all about the technical elements, and she just isn’t getting the power to rotate cleanly. There are too many other ladies in Japan who can do the jumps.

The absolute worst: Higuchi being in 13th. That Axel looked like it would really hurt the ankle. But she’s not out of it just yet, they are all clumped pretty closely between Mihara and Wabaka.

Mai skated beautifully but she was very hard to watch. She is obviously anorexic and I hope to God she is getting help for it.

Came here to post that I love Kihira and Miyahara's programs. Both have great musicality and I'm excited to a)sleep through and then b)eventually watch the free skates.

I was disappointed that Hongo's program was pretty generic, but good for her to keep competing.

Mihara has juvenile arthritis that affects her weight and appearance. That's all I'm going to say about that.

I thought it was juvenile arthritis.

Please show me the science where juvenile arthritis reduces people to skin and bones.

Sorry Sylvia, I was offline till now.
Regarding Kihira 4S comment, it was clearly shot in the corridor, an "off the cuff" comment. Since I did not record it, from memory it went like this.
"Since I did not make major mistakes in SP, the possibility still exists for me to do 4S. I really want to do the jump because I trained so hard for it. I must see if 4S feels right, in the intervening practices. Please understand that I am not committing to doing it."
Editing to add following print media Kihira practice (Dec 26th) report:
"During the run-through, Kihira fell on the first jump (4S) and the next 3A became 1A. Other jumps were landed including 3F/Eu/3S, but she skipped the final jump pass (3Lz planned).
Afterwards, she did several 4S attempts, landing two of them."

Hi Spun.

Mai is not anorexic. She was struck with juvinal arthritis.

Hi Spun.
Mai is not to my knowledge anorexic. She does have juvenile arthritis which ran over her like a mack truck. Then she had reactions to the medicines she was taking. All that left Mai with a body that was not working well. Her friends really helped her through.

The arthritis is controlled and she is on medicine that she her body can tolerate. She has gained back some weight and muscle.
To see her take the ice (at all) was a miracle and testament to her inner strength. I thought she skated beautifully and am totally thrilled she is in third.

All the links associated with JPTV's YT account listed in post #35 above now read:

Alas, all the vids in @Sylvia's posts are "private" and "unavailable".
As I posted in the general thread yesterday (https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...-27-2020-in-nagano.107878/page-2#post-5922222), the second YT account was terminated as well. :(

Fortunately, @Braulio's videos by event still work - five SP groups: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/threads/2020-japan-nationals-ladies-sp.107905/page-2#post-5919259

Four Ladies FS groups here: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/threads/2020-japan-nationals-ladies-fs.107915/page-5#post-5920921

What a shame this season, specially this one with skating so few showings and Japan TV decides not only to BLOCK videos but giving copyright strikes and SHUT DOWN channels that showed Japanese Nationals via Youtube.

Fortunately I 'only' got copyright strikes but not lost one of my channels.

But you still can watch over ok.ru website, links are in their respective threads
