U.S. Women [#8]: Meet Me in St. Louis

Amber and Isabeau free program dresses all have shades of red to them.

Speaking of the red dresses, I like Isabeau's new SP dress. Her costumes have improved over the last year. There is one odd silver bit by her left hip that I found a little distracting. But, overall, I really like it.

I also like Amber's SP dress.

I think both of their short programs look great for so early in the season. Isabeau often is very tentative early in the season, but she hasn't been tentative in her early competitions this season. And Amber looked really happy and comfortable during her short.

Olympics figure skater Alysa Liu changes program amid death investigation involving singer D4vd

Liu was going to skate her short program in the lead up to the 2026 Milan Winter Olympics to "This Is How It Feels" by D4vd and Icelandic artist Laufey.

I think it’s fine. Love the program!

I agree. It was actually Kevin's SP music edit that I found jarring. (Sorry ANL! I love Kevin and thought the footwork sequence was fun, but I did not like that music edit. Or maybe it's more that I don't like the combination of the different pieces of music in one program. It was like two completely different programs.)

Also, for anyone who hasn't seen Amber's short program yet, here it is:

I think most people have seen Isabeau's SP, but here is her Nebelhorn SP, just in case:

ETA: I was able to find a video of Starr's short program:

I’m just not a fan of any music edits in general. if I was a figure skater I will stick to one song and one song only and that’s it.

As far as the gaga piece Judas which is the piece I’m advocating for Alysa, he fully became gaga in the choreography.

🥳😎🤩

For instance, I’m watching Caroline and Michael right now and those are not good edits in my opinion at all.

But Gaga could be a really good choice for Alysa

If Caroline and Michael would just take out "I'm too sexy," their edit would be just fine and they are far from the only team/competitor with a janky music edit this competitive season.

As far as music edits done right, I love all the different edits in Starr's "Girls" Short Program. I also love the choreography and the way Starr performs the choreography. Kudos to her!

I found Ava Marie Ziegler's short program from Nepela. I'm so happy she's healthy and competing again internationally. More red short program costumes. Actually, I this the same costume she used a couple of years ago?

And here's Elyse Lin-Gracey's short program, with kind of a dark maroon dress. Not a fan of this costume. I don't think it's flattering:

Thanks for all the vids! Really enjoyed Starr's program, that is a good edit of that song and she's very connected to the music throughout.

This is a man's world is always a song that makes me ill, but Ava looks great and I really love the step sequence, especially the beginning.

oh let's check out the results of JGP Baku....

Congratulations to Amber Glenn for winning Nebelhorn 2025!

It was amazing. fantastic, stunning dress, beautiful hair and make up. Her jumps seem the best and most secure they ever have. Wish she would hold that ending pose more since is such a dramatic pose.

So thrilled for her.

Amber made that a lot closer than that needed to be skipping the 2nd double axel on her triple jump combo. I really wish she wouldn't do that because it is a big point combo and that is what usually goes wrong when she is having a bad skate. That landing of the first double axel didn't look to have a problem at all.

She looked to be in pain at the end, the steps looked uncomfortable at times, but that could be why she backed off just a bit.

Why in the world should she peak in September?

ITA. Amber herself said that she wants to take it more slowly because she ran out of gas at the end of last season.

I think she looks great, especially since that is her approach and she said the other day that she's not feeling great on her right side. (Her loop is probably her least consistent jump anyway, but I wonder if the right hip problem contributed this week.) Yes, it's a program she has competed with a lot, but the fact that she didn't pop in either program is great because popping is not uncommon for her. Plus, she beat out some other very talented skaters who also were skating very well for this early season.

Also, I love the new costume - except for that piece of fabric hanging off by her wrist. I guess she and Isabeau agreed on red for the short and blue for the long. I love blue, but don't care much for Isabeau's dress.

I wonder if Isabeau should rethink doing the spread eagle right into the loop in the free skate. It really doesn't seem worth the risk. She very rarely pops, and that pop cost her a medal. Of course, it could simply be that it's a new program and early in the season, so she isn't comfortable with it yet. I realize I'm being picky. She still came in third in the free skate with the pop, and she didn't fall in either program. And, unlike with the short, where she lost a level on a spin, she got all level 4s in the free. I think I was happier with it than she was. She looked a bit bummed and thoughtful when she finished.

I think Isabeau and Amber look great for so early in the season. I'm glad to see that Isabeau's injury seems to be in the past. I hope that Amber's hip problem is something minor and that she will be 100% soon.

I agree

Although is the loop Amber’s weakest jump I thought it was the salchow.

The piece of fabric by her wrist seems to be a trademark for her costume. She’s had it several times now.

I like blue a lot my favorite dress of all time is Alissa Czisny blue dress from Dr. Zhivago and Ambers is fantastic as well.

For my taste Isabeau dress has too much going on. I also don’t like it when there’s too many sparkles and rhinestones. I prefer costumes and dresses without them.
