I'm waiting for the day the ballet world will be inspired by an ice dance performance.

P/C take advantage of the ice as a medium so well that I could see floor dancers watch them and be envious of ice dancing in a way that's probably never happened before.

ETA: That music I've been obsessing over in the P/C thread (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QX-rSLkQRQ) is an example of something I think would be best shown as an ice dance rather than a contemporary/modern dance. You could move through all the emotions without being stopped by the floor. It's a freedom that you could never achieve in a floor dance.

Yeah right. So floor dancers can give up all the variety, forget about rhythm, only do one type of dance their whole life because it's the only true art. Lol.

It is officially fair that Tessa and Scott are using Moulin Rouge because Kaitlyn and Andrew are using part of the music from their 2006 OD.

I sort of with there were more options for male ice dancers to get a level 4 stationary lift that doesn't involve them being in a squat position. I know Andrew Poje did a varation of that so he's not in a total squat, which I appreciated.

Yeah agreed^
Love Piper and Paul.
The music doesn't quite work for me because it was the theme of some show years ago.
I have a hard time surrendering the music to the programme.
However I think they look amazing and they really set themselves apart.

I think Piper and Paul once again went on a 180 direction. I am not sure I like it, but the costume she's using is breathtaking.

I so want to see the whole programs now ! :)

Yeah I couldn't remember. Thought it might be Matlock.
Anyway it reminded me of Perry Mason and so I wasn't far off.

I think Piper and Paul have brought something truly unique and very film noir to the dance table this season! Really did not think they could top last season's FD, but believe this one may become a signature piece for them, so many innovative moves and the level of difficulty leaves me in awe... Can't wait to see the whole thing.

All the CDN dance teams have really stepped up to plate this season and led by the superlative, brilliant in a class all by themselves -- Scott and Tessa! Pinching myself at the diversity of our dance teams each a perfect gem unto themselves. I can't wait to see the full performances having just whet my appetite now, from the practice ice. Some real chemistry, drama, sass, emotion, risk-taking and innovation coming from ACI!!!

Do my eyes deceive me, or has Piper dyed her hair platinum blonde? I guess she is going for the classic blonde bombshell, noir femme fatale look.

Piper and Paul are the current interview on Ice Talk. They didn't say what the actual FD music was, but they did say that it was a film noir theme - he's portraying a detective and she's a femme fatale. They mentioned that they had thought about bringing back the Hitchcock program, but ultimately decided that they wanted something warmer and more seductive.

(Their SD is a bossa nova followed by Gopher Mambo).

Somebody on GS said it's Perry Mason (I never watched that)

Seriously? That's awesome. It was one of my grandpa's favorite shows. Every now and then I watch some of it in his honor. :)

Piper and Paul's diagonal split stationary lift during their Hitchcock FD

Piper Gilles/Paul Poirier 2017-18 FD Music:
Stolen Hearts (by Hollywood Trailer Music Orchestra from Film Noir: Hollywood Cinema Classics)
Perry Mason Theme (by Buddy Morrow)
Smoky Sax (by Hollywood Trailer Music Orchestra from Film Noir: Hollywood Cinema Classics)

and the end goes back to Perry Mason

Part of the music is definitely from the Perry Mason tv show theme. My father's favorite television show back-in-the-day.

In general, G/P's FD music has a film noir feel. Maybe they were looking for something that would be as effective as their Hitchcock program, but that was a different genre. I really like this choice for them. :D

ETA:
Oh, I see the film noir evidence was already pointed out. :) Well, I could tell even before I read that about the other selections. A unique choice for a figure skating program. That's why I previously suggested that a mature ladies skater or even a pairs team would do well skating to the Laura 1940s movie soundtrack (umpteenth time I've mentioned it btw).

Lots of good choices in this genre:

I feel like it's not edgy enough for them but we'll see when we can have the whole programs.

when are they skated? I want, need them now :p

Some people prefer the more hands on sexual style of rhumba so it seems these teams are going to deliver it for them. Other teams I am sure will give a more 50´s inspired rhumba for the faint of heart ;)

You mean like F-B/S?
