I thought it all season, especially since her previous choices for costuming had been conservative. I did think the bottom of the costume was shorter.
I watched it one my large so maybe it was more in my face - literally

I rarely like Piper's costumes. But her butt cheeks weren't as exposed.

There are plenty of us, myself included, who've had a problem with Laurence's RD costume all season. I don't care that Madonna's outfits were even skimpier. For me, with Lolo, it's a combination of the color, which I don't think is terribly flattering on her, and the booty shorts riding up over the course of the entire program and exposing her butt cheeks (yeah, I know she's wearing tights, so they aren't really hanging out).

And that little skirt makes all the difference in not showing her a$$ off to the entire world. It's a minor bit of modesty that most of us appreciate.
 
Would live to see side by sides of each of the top two, comparing yesterday to their earlier performance in the Team RD. Am I making sense? Side by side of C/B team event vs individual event, and one for the French.
 
There was a discussion upthread about why Skate Canada would release LFB to skate for France.

I think I figured out why.

They didn’t have much choice. If they didn’t release her to France, she and Guillame could skate for Canada and become National Champions over Piper and Paul thus tanking their medal chances at Olympics. (No way 2 Canadian teams medal at Olympics.)

Guillame has had his Permanent Residency and has been working towards Canadian citizenship since before Covid.

He probably already has Canadian citizenship by now or if not would have been quicker and easier than LFB getting French citizenship.

So that is why I think they released LFB to France so quickly.

Skate Canada tried to protect Piper and Paul as best they could if it was inevitable that LFB and Guillame would team up.

CBC used to do something like this back in the skating heyday of the 90's. I'd like to see it.

They can and I think it wouldn't matter what LFB wore. It's the ick factor. There is something that people don't like, and you can say it's the costume, or the suspension/appeal, or Gabby's book or all of it. But the icky feeling is there.
 
I think Skate Canada wanted to wash their hands of FB/C, and, yes, they could not have stopped them from competing for Canada. Even with the Covid backlogs, he should have had his citizenship by the time they paired up, if he’d applied before 2020.

Wouldn’t France have needed to release him? Or was he out long enough that it wasn’t necessary?
 
It’s hard to say what the French Fed would have done, but Cizeron hadn’t competed for three seasons, and having a passport would have made it harder to justify holding him, if he’d really did start his application pre-2020. They would have been allowed to put a price tag on him for their “investment,” which would have been hard for Skate Canada to justify paying; this could have been their get out of jail free card.

The IOC could have denied her, because she and Sorensen had competed for Canada within the last three years of the Olympic cycle (2022 Worlds), which requires IOC permission in the IOC charter, to avoid country hopping/:bribe:. Supposedly they will if the old federation has no beef, which would have been hard for Skate Canada to have if they released her, and they did. That would not have been at issue had he been able to switch, because he hadn’t competed.

Papadakis/Cizeron withdrew from Worlds 2021 because Gabby was afraid she wouldn’t be allowed back in Canada if she left due to Covid rules that only citizens and PR holders were automatically allowed in Canada.

Guillame didn’t have the same issue meaning he must have had his PR all the way back in 2020-2021.
 
Why was she afraid of that? So many other ice teams from the same Academy weren't citizens or PRs went to 2021 World.

That wasn't why they withdrew from Worlds 2021. That's why she did not travel overseas during the summer/fall of 2020.
 
The rules at the time were shifting, were passport-dependent, and any agent could have sent her right home.

Do we know the statuses of all of the other teams? If MFD was suggesting marriage to Les Le Gacs, I suspect they were suggesting applying for PR status to anyone who was expected to be long term.

But it has the skirt. And it DOESN'T HAVE GILLS!

You know, it's possible to have the same style of costume and one be bad and one be just okay. It's not the style that is being complained about. It's the details and how short the shorts are.

IIRC Guillaume has said that because of his long-term relationship and career opportunities that he decided to make Canada his home.
 
I go back to my Playboy Bunny costume (without the ears and butt puff) comment. I probably wouldn't have said anything at all about this costume a while back. It would have washed by me like the fake criticism of the SB halftime show.

But right now I'm so icked out by the Epstein reports, pics of various parties at Miralago, and now this playboy costume look-alike (or close enough) and I feel like I'm on overload. It doesn't help that so many young girls also wear thongs at our river beaches here - they will be here again in a few months. Maybe I'm just getting old.
 
A random outsider perspective- mr milly has no clue who F-B / C are and had not heard of any controversy.
When we saw them in Sheffield he was so shocked at the costume he considered leaving the building until the performance was over. He thought it was completely inappropriate and not something he felt comfortable viewing.

He has never mentioned another costume. Yesterday when the dance was on he brought up again the French team with the outrageous costume before they came on.

It's as tired as the people who cry that Chock/Bates twizzles cover no ice. Like I guess I've missed the zamboni pushing them past all the judges to the end of the rink for the last six months???
