Here and awake... sort of. :yawn:
Same. I need to work up to the early start. I did manage to make a cup of coffee.

I really like Fradji’s dress, but if there’s one excuse to do full tights over boots, this is it. She looks like her toes have been amputated. Nice skate, though.

And who are the drunken fans? I assume they’ve been lubricated.

The basics still need a lot of work but at least the twizzles were done. No real deep edges, not a major amount of complexity but still I love this team. Karine got the choreography right with them.

Nice quality of movement, and good interpretation of relatively quiet pieces of music.

F/F

Good rotational lift to stationary lift, low levels from her on steps and turns, nice angsty expression and limber back movement in choreo step sequence, clean skate and exactly what they needed to do as they start seniors

Fradji/Forneaux - Very nice program though my attention did wander towards the end. Nicely done. Will be interesting to see how this team develops.

This music is too snooze for 4:30 a.m. They have some nice moments, but skate a bit far apart and their spins seem a bit weak.

really insanely difficult way to control that edge on the one-foot. I liked the shape of it, but because of having to use the entire body and change so many centers of balance, I think it's a risky way to try to get high levels. Don't like the twizzle pattern at all.

One thing I will say is their skating is NOT staccato enough to try to match what the music is doing. They don't ever have sharp arm movements either, which would help. This is vanilla, expected nothing less. Edit- the choreographic step shows glimpses of that staccato stuff I mentioned.

Emily Bratti/Ian Somerville 🇺🇸
Rank after RD: 9
Coach: Greg Zuerlein, Charlie & Tanith White
Music: Nureyev (The White Crow)

Stationary Lift 4

One Foot Turns W:2 M:3
Synchronized Twizzles W:4 M:4
Diagonal Step Sequence W:3 M:3
Curve Lift 4 + Curve Lift 4
Dance Spin 4
Choreo Character Step Sequence

Choreo Sliding Movement

Didn't feel like this came together as one piece, and often seemed like two skaters in different programs.

107.71 = 1st Place
172.80 = 1st Place

Bratti/Somerville - I like the blue of her dress, but feel like at least some of it needs to be darker to match his shirt. Nice clean turns on the footwork and the whole program flowed very well. I know it's not the only White Crow we'll see this year but the music is beautiful and I thought they interpreted it well.

Although BratSom will never be skating in the same group as LaLa, youda thunk that Charlie et al would have ditched White Crow the second they heard that LaLa were planning to reuse it.

Lots of mismatch, which I expect this time of year and is made worse by Ian’s “look at me” style.

Are those Les Bleus section or whatever they are the new coming of the pink row of Canadian fans from the 90s and early 2000s?

Bratti/Somerville

White crow, levels 2 and 3 on one foot turns, 3s on diagonal steps, effective use of music on curve lifts, nice technical skate, think they could embody the music more

Lagouge/Caffa

Twizzles done with no speed, levels 1 and 2 on turns, circular steps 2 and 3. He’s getting a level 3? Hmm. Nice drama in the choreo steps, good acting

Lagouge/Caffa - Do not like her costume. The orange and blue clashes and the open skirt moves strangely and is very distracting. Nice use of different holds in the circular steps. That choreo dance lift looked awkward. Overall it was fine, but should go behind the American team.

Arnaud COMPLETELY ran out of gas in the last 30 seconds. Those choreographic moves were so half-done. Still don't quite understand the propping up of them compared to some of their countrymates.

Natacha Lagouge/Arnaud Caffa 🇫🇷
Rank after RD: 8
Coach: Maurizio Margaglio, Neil Brown
Music: J’oublie, In the Mood for Love, J’oublie

Synchronized Twizzles W:4 M:4
Curve Lift 4 + Rotational Lift 4
One Foot Turns W:1 M:2
Circular Step Sequence W:2 M:3
Stationary Lift 4
Dance Spin 4
Choreo Character Step Sequence
Choreo Dance Lift

Choreo Spinning Movement

They're more exposed in their skating with slow music making it easier to see the lack of power, and ice coverage in some of their elements.

103.21 = 2nd Place
171.29 = 2nd Place
