I think for a lot of people - myself included - his "politics" completely impact how I view his art. His point of view has actively hurt people, so I frankly don't care to hear about the stories he's telling.
 
JGP Riga thoughts:

Taking into account that this is obviously a big rebuilding year in juniors...

I was quite happy with Mouaden & Bigot's material in Riga. It's been a long time since I've seen them, and it's nice to see they are living up to that potential one could see early on. (They're also a lot more together than most of the field).

I thought Tscharner & Wiederkehr had a unique feel in both programs, and I look forward to watching them develop.

Then I also enjoyed the Scottish FD and the Amelie. (Looked both teams up & realized the latter is a team that Nazarova & Nikitin choreographed for so kudos to N&N on the Amelie as well).

Regarding Deych & Hu, she has some lovely stretch; but I'm pretty sure they're just too "nice" to turn out to be my kind of team. (I've seen them twice now, which is undoubtedly too early to leap to that conclusion, but leaping I am;)).

I desperately need Veillon's team to work on her positions. That rotating over the head lift there in the FD must have had at least three positions--none of them right. And at least two of the poses before that needed work. I'm sure they've good traits, but as with a young Taschlerova & Taschler, I need this before I'm likely to appreciate the rest.

P/C did waacking, not voguing, though. Also, I don't think a junior team can do that on the same level as skaters of F-B/C's calibre.

Do not underestimate how hard it is to add 30 seconds to a program…and it’s their first ever Senior comp.

Paolino/Tuba's score is actually what you can expect them to get with a national panel at the beginning of the season. It is the others who have scored badly.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. I can't imagine Paolino/Tuba securing a second spot for Italy in any universe. It does make the path much easier for teams like Ignateva/Szemko, Reitan/Majorov, Yoshida/Morita and Val/Kazimov.

Having seen F-B/C now, I have no idea why they chose this concept. It doesn't go with the music, and all it does is invite comparisons to P/C's much better program. (I know, it's two different styles of dance, but they're similar enough for comparisons.)

It's both good and bad, but I love the styling. I don't see Gabbi at all and I did not think of the Wacking RD at all. If anything, Lolo reminds me of Tessa. So good on them. Great first outing. Excited for the free.
 
I think F-B/C’s RD has potential. It needs some work in the middle section to make the vogueing make more sense with “Enjoy the Silence”. Someone mentioned that song and “Vogue” were battling it out on the charts in the summer of 1990. Maybe they should lean into that theme and somehow splice Madonna’s song into it or sprinkle it in during the voguing sections. Maybe she can dress as Madonna and he can dress as Dave Gahan, or the other way around to make it even more interesting.
