Do we have actual 'confirmation' on that?
Don't get me wrong I am all pro Han Yan, but in the end it could have still been his decision not trying (knowing lack of support by CHN fed for example).
And maybe because they took his funding away he did not have the money to train.

Nini has brought back her 3-3.

another clip from CCTV’s news coverage.
they showcased their quad twist at 1'43''.
Is that the level 3? I can only count two features ("Catching the Woman at the side of the waist without her hand(s)/arm(s)/any part of upper body touching the Man" and "Difficult take-off: turns, steps, movements, small lifts immediately preceding the take-off, executed with continuous flow").

Watching the 2017 Worlds LP, the third feature is going to be "Man’s arms sideways, being straight or almost straight, reaching at least shoulder level after release of the lady". IIRC, she used to have problems with the split feature, and she uses a tano on the triple twist as a result (obviously far harder on quadruple twists).

I agree with you, it is only a level 2 quad twist. Han didn't put down his arms and keep his arms straight while releasing Sui, Sui didn’t raise her hand above her head while rotating, and she didn't get the split with enough degrees.

Does anyone know if China’s 2022 figure skating team was named? Is the selection series now over? Can we assume Boyang Jin for men; Sui/Han and Peng/Jin for pairs; Wang/Liu for dance. Others??? Most curious about the lone woman.

Sui/Han, Peng/Jin and Wang/Liu have already been named. They're holding a series of 5 internal competitions to determine the Singles. First 3 have been held but I'm not sure the status on them. The last 2 are next weekend.

Thanks. Boy, they’ve been dragging these internal contests out for a while!

The insider posted on Tieba saying Yi had won the Olympic spot. Yi also posted an Instagram story with the caption "mom i did it" & Olympic rings so it's probably true.

They also posted the 3 women's scores of all 5 trials: (the table posted is quite messy and I'm not sure about the accuracy)

Yi: 164.36 191.34 177.96 177.78 185.52 Total 732.60
Hongyi: 182.46 182.61 165.39 172.60 186.97 Total 724.64
Shan: 189.11 179.33 186.88 161.01 161.36 Total 716.68

And they said Shan would go to Worlds although she doesn't have the SP MTS now.

Well, that certainly brings a big unknown to the TE because I don't think Yi had competed internationally at all this season. Or did she compete at Asian Open?

She was at GP Italy (SP 60.00 FS 111.25) and Asian Open (SP 52.88 FS 94.50)

Wow that’s a surprising outcome. Zhu Yi seemed like the weakest of the three from previous seasons and earlier this year. I’m surprised how she has suddenly improved! She didn’t even seem to have a 3F or 3Z before. She must have made great strides recently.

Wow. She would be my #3 pick amongst the three of them. Both Hongyi and Ashley had skated solidly last season at the domestic GPs.

I have to say the total lack of transparency in the selection process frustrates me a lot. No videos, not even protocols, nothing. Some posts back when the plan for the Olympic trial was first announced, we had high hopes for it and now it seems quite ironic to me.

Anyway, it's all set now and I wish Boyang and Yi all the best.

The scores posted don't see all that out of whack with what the girls usually score in international competition and it looks like they all won and lost to each other throughout the five comps so it was close. And the fact that Zhu Yi won it in the end seems proof enough that it was a fair competition, since like others have mentioned, she was definitely a distant #3 in years past, so she must have stepped it up. Even after their first comp it seems she was pretty far behind, then it seems she put it all together and stayed more consistent. I know she's a popper so hopefully she won't feel too much pressure and we can see all her improvements to their full potential at the Olympics.

Is it incumbent upon any county to be ,transparent? And you are talking about China.... Not noted for openness .

Shan's post on Instagram

overwhelmed with emotions that i don’t even know where to begin… these past two and a half months in China have been such a whirlwind. it was honestly an eye opening experience to be a part of such a loving group of people that i would call easily call my family. after an exhausting five competitions i can confidently say that i gave it my all but unfortunately the outcome wasn’t what i had hoped. though i wish i would be taking center ice at the 2022 winter olympics, i have absolutely no regrets and am truly proud of every moment that I have overcome. after all, everything happens for a reason :,) a huge thank you to my family, coaches, friends, and supporters; i am insanely grateful for those that have been there for me every step of my journey. i’ll be cheering my hardest for each and every one of teammates heading towards the olympics ??
北京冬奥会,加油!中国队加油!??

And Yi's reply

your perseverance and dedication inspires me so much ? i’m so lucky that we became friends throughout this whole journey ☁️❤️ onwards and upwards ash!!

Are Shan and Yi Americans? Can someone remind me what names they used to be called when they competed for the U.S.?

October 2020 post in this thread:
Shan, also known as Ashley, Lin had previous senior international experience for the USA with 2 Challenger Series competitions in the fall of 2018 ( http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00101153.htm ) before she switched to China. Her scores at [domestic 2020] Skate America (59.29 in SP, 122.82 in FS, 182.11 total) were very close to her ISU personal bests from 2018 Nebelhorn (59.45 SP, 121.76 FS, 181.21 total).
She moved with the Letov/Ganicheva group from Dallas to Boston and has been training in China since the fall. Her IG profile includes her college status: “UofPenn Wharton ‘26 (gap year)”
Yi (Beverly) ZHU has only been training full-time with Orser's group since earlier this year (her ISU PBs of 55.53 / 99.88 / 155.41 were all set at 2020 4CC: http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00107213.htm ) and it'll be interesting to see if she can continue progressing to challenge by next season.
Zhu has since set 3 new ISU PB scores in the GP in Torino this past fall: 171.25 total, 60.00 SP, 111.25 FS.

Sept. 2018 post in this thread when Zhu’s switch to China first became official:
First official news (in English): http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/1120891.shtml

ETA that [Beverly] Zhu landed 6 clean triples in her Novice Nationals FS to Miss Saigon: 3F+3T, 3S-half loop-2F, 3Lo+2A seq., 3Lo & 3S …
She turned 16 earlier this month.
Zhu won the 2018 U.S. Novice title, coached by Derrick Delmore, and had not yet competed internationally for the USA before her switch to China.
