The Dance Hall 9: Bring the Bling or No Beijing 2021-2022

Does anyone know if Turkkila & Versluis are planning to continue after the Olympics? I was just looking at the list of countries with multiple berths in dance at Europeans & thinking that it would be nice for Finland to earn two.
They have been harmed by injuries so that they have not been skating to their ability until this season. The Europeans 2023 will take place in Helsinki, Finland, so my educated guess is that they will. They are 27 now.

Cross-posting from the From Russia With Love thread:
Dmitri Soloviev was hospitalized in Moscow after he and his girlfriend, Russian curler Anna Sidorova, were attacked by three unknown men.

@taz'smum amazing skate by Z/G today, it was impressive in general but way more impressive considering they had so little time to practice. I hope they know what an achievement this is and are proud of themselves.
(Shameful scoring though, we all knew it was coming but wow).

I am so Goddamned proud!?
I can't believe they skated that well for the first competition of the season!
Especially given just 2 weeks ago, we didn't think they would even be going to Nationals, as Tiff had to take 4 days off as her symptoms were so bad. They have done remarkably well just to be there.
Skating a clean program was such an achievement! ?

Z/G are awesome! They deserve all the praise in the world. Not bad-looking either! :) Very stunning pair. I know it will be tough and no unreasonable expectations given Tiff's health issues, but hope to see them on the team after the free. And I do like D/S a lot, but I don't think it's their time yet.

Glad (of course) to see a strong outing for S/K, also love Step/Buks' outfits.

How did Step/Buk perform? Did the RD evolve?

I think the first section and the highlight moves are the strongest - they have some good eye-catching moments. I've just watched the top teams here and at the Grand Prix - in general, throughout the season, with a lot of the teams I keep wondering why they are slowing down, but I think that's just the pattern itself? I know lots of people have doubts about this RD theme but I think people who watch the sport for the Olympics will probably like it. Will there be some people on twitter who complain? Probably. But I think the casual watchers will be into the fun, slightly extra at times vibe.

Wow, the way that the corruption is so blatant? Eteri's arrogance and these judges ability to be manipulated really knows no bounds huh?
It's ridiculous and they're so blatant with this BS too. If you're going to piss on us at least have the decency of calling it rain . Congrats to Z/G on a great skate especially after what must have been a challenging season thus far.

I’m terrible at remembering choreo so don’t know but they seemed looser and more into it than in Italy.
They CRAWL, let me repeat crawl across the ICE. She has regressed or her injuries are really taking a toll. Everything they do is small. The judges didn't pull D/S up enough. They could have been second. They waited way too late to call Morozov for help. Just my humble opinion of course. But sometimes I wonder if she's in pain.

Yuck at Davis/Smolkin scores... so if I am an Eteri uber ( ), I guess I am not supposed to think those scores are BS and are only thanks to her being Eteri's daughter, right?

S/B skate small but to say D/S skate better is honestly laughable when they have less speed, less ice coverage, skate smaller, and have lesser skating skills (not to mention that on the day they were also cautious and tentative which made them even slower than usual). Competent judging should have put D/S in 7th place with a score that is about 10 points lower than the score they got. Hell, the scoring was so blatantly corrupt that the crowd booed and yelled "Shame" when Z/G scores came up, that's how blatant it felt all around.

Oh no, I don't have those issues. I really don't care who their parents are if they can skate like that. But I haven't been able to find Z/G yet to see what the bristling was all about. Looking at the scores though I honestly don't see the need for alarm. D/S have had a much longer time to work on levels and they have the singular attention of Igor. Tiff is coming off a serious illness and this was a debut for them, right? Now when they had bumped another pair one year for Morozov's daughter and partner who is not particularly good I was really miffed.

As for Annabel, bless her heart, she's as thin as a reed but she has no power and their skating again looks small and uneven so again no issues with their placement. Now for Bazin or Bagin and Liza, their programmes are just seriously horrendous, I'd bar them from Nationals just for that. I don't care where they place. Finally for S/A, seriously though A needs a partner. He's really good but he needs a girl to skate with, S is as stiff as a woodpecker, so again, while it hurts me deeply for A, I don't care where they place either.

Yeah, maybe so but they've got swag, a certain style, S still looks like she's in pain half the time, with her butt sticking up in the air. It might have taken a toll on the poor judges over time.

Thank you. Respect!

Enjoyable programme!! There were some notable moments of caution though and for a dance like this, it needs a bit more snap and speed to really sell it but that could just be a confidence issue. I don't think it was an easy choice for the judges. There is always the FD that we haven't seen yet and I absolutely cannot stand the FD for D/S, so they just have to dig deep again and hope for the best.

S/K are out of Russian nationals and won't perform the FD because Nikita hurt his back again:

At this point, I don't see them going to Euros (and even for the Olympics it's starting to look like it will take a miracle).

Oh my gosh. I was just thinking how confident and how much better he looked health-wise. That's awful news.

Wow, for S/K to be left out of Olympics because of injuries is heartbreaking.

I hope they only miss Euros (if Euros aren't cancelled anyways).

@taz'smum I bawled my eyes out watching Tiff today, what a fight. I hope she's ok ❤️
She's with the doctors and being well looked after. ?
As I feared, the first day took too much out of her and her head symptoms meant she could hardly hold her head up in the FD.
Jon was a hero for modifying the program as they skated and enabling her to get to the end.
He removed most of the cool tricks that Chris had choreographed as he went along and just focused on keeping her upright.

I'm so glad she's in good hands, her health comes first and for the little training time they had and the symptoms she's experiencing what they managed to put on the ice both days is remarkable.
I do hope we'll get to see them again, if not in Euros/Olympics then perhaps something like the Russian Cup Final or the Channel one event if they'll be held. They deserve to go out with a bang.

Tiff did a great job considering, and MASSIVE respect to Jon for helping her through! Vestibular symptoms are so frustrating. Hope she has a good balance physio! ?
Thank you @Immortelle.?
She is feeling pretty shitty right now, so let's hope tomorrow is a better day. ?
She is only 2 months into a 3 to 6 month recovery period, so she is doing incredibly well to have done what she did this competition.
Now she can get the real rest that she needs. They gave all they could and so can have no regrets.?
