I think USFS required them to add the "Academy" part to be an official club. I'm not sure exactly why, but that's what I heard.
I thought the club was always Academy at MJM
Their skaters at 2019 Nationals represented "Mitchell Johansson Method"... @clairecloutier interviewed the coaches for her blog this past summer and they talked about why they created a new USFS club name for their program (link to the GSD thread with the interview): https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/threads/mark-mitchell-peter-johansson-interview.105715/

Mids Junior Men SP protocols https://www.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2020/27742/SEGM013.html

David Shapiro, Detroit SC 57.29
Matthew Nielsen, Strongsville SC 56.24
Daniel Argueta, SC of Houston 55.68

I'm on the Mids website and I swear there isn't a single place that lists where the competition is actually being held!

It's completely empty. My heart aches for those kids. When Sectionals is held at a rink, there are spectators. Not a ton, but some.
It's not completely empty. And there is an ice rink attached, but it definitely doesn't have enough seating for this type of competition. But both sheets of ice are being used. It's very convenient.

In other news Morgan Hilbrich and Michael Poland are absolute sweethearts. Also the novice men's short program looks like it should be a fun event. There are a lot of fun programs and fun personalities.

My new favorite skater: Isabella Garland.

So after Ava Ziegler went, there was some inspection with the ice, especially in a spot she fell. She was great and might have won if not for that fall. :(

I also really enjoyed the top three from Mids along with Georgia Bolocan and Cayetana Gonzalez from Easterns. I'm really glad both Bolocan and Garland pulled up to medal. And
And Gabriela Summer Panaligan was super cute.

One advantage of the new system is that we aren't seeing any intermediate ladies with 3-3 this year. They're all in novice+ where, IMO, they belong.

OK, for those who missed it:

Berenger MarcAurele stopped, got off the ice, barfed* for a solid 3 minutes (at least!), and got back on for a restart with... 15 seconds left in the program.

*I think he was vomiting. Wasn't sure if it was a trashcan or a water fountain.

Shallow alert: Audrey-Kate Johnson and Lucas Appel have the best costumes. There are many international competitors that should take notes. Actually, all the costumes in the final group were great.

As always, adorable baby ice dancers are adorable. And incredibly impressive, too!

And now the video feed from Easterns won't work. Along with the score updating. I feel like I just traveled back 15 years. Thanks a lot, USFS. :(

OK, Mids vid not working, either. Is anyone else getting anything? Maybe it's my computer. Just tried in both Firefox and Chrome.

Mids is working for me. Has Sappenfield always been coaching (or assisting?) with Mishkutionok/Tioumentsev?

I got mids to work (pairs) but not Easterns. The first kid to ever qualify from my club back home is skating in Intermediate men and I really wanted to watch!

Oh Kropf/Lunin were quite good. Although I thought their costumes were going to be Western music, not Carmina Burana. Haha.

This season part-time at least, yes (he trains singles in CO Springs & I believe she visits occasionally from Dallas). I've seen both his & her mothers with M/T in the kiss & cry as well.

I expected it to be close between the top 2 pairs (they went 1-2 at Intermediate Nationals last season - Novice Pairs SP protocols: https://www.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2020/28846/SEGM003.html
Faye Kropf/Sasha Lunin, both Fort Wayne ISC 42.70 (they won the NAC novice pairs invitational comp. in Canada this summer)
Natasha Mishkutionok/Daniel Tioumentsev, both Dallas FSC 41.16

Does anyone in teknik watching the Junior RD know what was wrong with the Browns? Granted, I don't know the Tea Time pattern but everything looked good to me and they had good attack. I don't get why their scores are so low.

Me neither. I liked the program though I thought Wolfkostin / Chen looked faster, though one can't really tell from video

Sylvia, why is Joe Klein skating as a novice, given his skating as a junior at JGP Lake Placid? What am I missing? Thx
