The only U.S. pair listed for JGP #4 in Russia is 2019 U.S. Novice bronze medalists Anastasiia SMIRNOVA / Danylo SIIANYTSIA (not yet confirmed on USFS' International Assignments page).

ETA:

I heard Smirnova/Siianytsia (138.34 total score) and Novice silver medalists Cate Fleming/Jedidiah Isbell (106.62 total) were the only 2 Junior pairs at the Cranberry Open this past weekend

Ash & Timothy celebrate the end of pairs training at Baselga di Pine, and look forward to their trip home for Champs Camp in California, August 24-28:

They probably have a good shot at a Cirque contract post-retirement from eligible skating!

I'm looking forward to seeing Haven/Brandon's revamped Lion King fp (with new input by Renee Roca). This is truly a great time to bring that program back. It was a good one for them four years ago, and I hope it is a harbinger of new heights for their career. They are fun to watch! I  Haven & Brandon!

For Alexa & Chris, much good luck for a new chapter! They've already accomplished a lot and learned so much about themselves. I hope they will bring that knowledge fully to the ice! They definitely look rested and ready to fly:

Perhaps Tarah Kayne will have a career as a makeup artist, post-skating:

Wow, I hope Tarah brings more of that sass and glamorous intensity to the ice with Danny!

I can barely wait to see more from the recently paired and exciting teams, Calalang/Johnson and Chan/Howe -- I'm fangirling all the way:

 "If y'all could stop being so photogenic...!" Don't stop Emily & Spencer! :rollin:

Good luck to all U.S. pairs! I can't stop watching you guys. It's always a pleasure to see each of you on the ice, no matter what. I could indulge in watching all past U.S. pairs championships on a perpetual rewind! Thanks for all you give and for how hard you work! :cheer2:

^^ That's cool, as always from On Ice Perspectives!

Having seen C/J's short program at Skate Detroit, I'm eager to see their fp which did not get uploaded by anyone AFAIK.

Wow, that's surprising. Will they be looking for new partners or moving on?

Feng and Nyman just ended their partnership..

A bit of a surprise as it seemed like they were preparing for the season.
I'm in shock. I thought they were the most promising pairs team the US has had in a while.

From the Stellato/Deschamps thread, which US team has the best....

element by element:
twist - obviously "the Married Couple"
lifts - Denney/Frazier
jumps - Cain/LeDuc by process of elimination
throws - Denney/Frazier IMO, but Kayne'O'shea or the Knierims are both decent choices here
chemistry - YMMV, but my personal favorite is Cain/LeDuc

I agree with all you other choices but IMO Kayne/O'Shea have consistent throws but they're not very big - I'd go with the married couple on this one.

This is an interesting discussion. K/O Jumps are more consistent maybe lower degree of difficulty than C/L But it's all about points baby! I don't agree with D/F Lifts. Married Couple as good, with the exception of nationals put down......K/O have more difficult lifts. I agree that K/O throws are smaller so that the Goe can be lower. Chemistry is a difficult one to call. They all are good maybe D/F.

I don't think anyone is even close to D/F as far as lifts go. Their lifts always look effortless, have great ice coverage and speed, and Haven hits beautiful positions. The Knierims' lifts are often not aesthetically pleasing and don't have as good of flow over the ice.

I think The Knierims lifts are equal to D&F especially since last season.

Shoutout to K&O for their amazing Swan Lake final lift though.

I also think Knierims rule the roost on most of these elements with jumps going to C-G&L

And for throws The Knierims have no competition at all IMO.

Theirs are huge, far and mostly jaw dropping. The throws they have done this summer I swore were quads because he throws her into the stands.

SBS spins - C-G&L

Chemistry - C-G&L

Twist - duh, Knierims

Combo spin - Knierims

Knierims though have TWO clear weaknesses - SBS spins (sp only) and jumps

I agree D/F have great lifts. Their experience together shows in their coordination and timing. They seem to use the same lifts over and over. I don't get the comment..anyone is..even close...? If you look at K/O, the complexity is higher, they seem more innovative with different complex lifts every year and I believe they cover the ice as well as D/F. Maybe someone can give us the best point totals for, say both teams long programs on lift elements. Hope I said that ok.

^^ I agree with you. Look what I said in post above you a few moments ago.

D&F have fast rotation in their lifts and I think others cover just as much ice if not more ice.

I also think The Knierims have greater difficulty into some of their entrances of lifts.

And K&O can have greater difficulty into that one throw of theirs.

K/O have had interesting exits on a few of their lifts, but they don't always look smooth or have the best lines in their positions. I just think Haven has the best posture and stretch when it comes to the lifts, and that's what makes them more attractive. I think Brandon's footwork is the best too as far as security and speed.

What is it with American pairs girls that have IT for me constantly disappearing off the scene?

I have so enjoyed seeing Sarah skate with a partner again. I hope she will continue.

This sums up my feelings too. I enjoyed Sarah when she was an ice dancer with Anthony Ponomarenko. It was fun seeing her come back...

Are we talking about the pair's potential talent when it comes to an element or their ability successfully execute that element?

CG/L potentially have the best jumps because they attempt the harder jumps, but their success rate has been mixed lately w/ Ash falling at Worlds.

SK/K IMO potentially have the lifts, twist and throws [explosive elements] but they have had their history of various health problems

With the Feng / Nyman split, I was wondering again about the TBD spot at SA.

If C/J do really well during the pre-season Challenger series coupled w/ their win at Skate Detroit, would the USFSA outright give them 2 spots? Let them compete internationally against the top US teams at SA and see how it shakes out.

Then again, I think C/J are high on the list of substitutes, one team in front of them is the PRK team who based on the strange behavior of the North Korean government may not be sent to Europe or JPN if a slot opens up. Would the USFSA take a chance of seeing if C/J gets subbed in somewhere else, and thus give the SA spot to Lu / Mitrofanov? Who else would the USFSA realistically send to SA?

Last year, Calalang/Johnson and Digerness/Neudecker were invited to Champs Camp (neither already had a GP assignment) and D/N ended up with the Skate America TBD spot. If Feng/Nyman hadn't split, I assume they would have been invited to Champs Camp to join Calalang/Johnson and Lu/Mitrofanov (these are the only two pairs with one or no GP assignments in the group photo that was taken yesterday): https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...ugust-24-28-in-irvine-ca.105848/#post-5623904

Does participation in Champs Camp determine who is considered / confirmed for a GP slot? Sorry if I missed any conversation

I usually thought so.

But I do think think they make their assesment yes, not too many summer comps (if any) left,

Both Megan and Amber are there yet there is only one SkAm slot available and neither have one so far.

There are up and commers and junior level skaters as well.

I can't remember when I saw a clean program in Competition from the Knierims.
