This is heartbreaking. I've always wanted to see the cathedral in person...I'm so sorry for the people of Paris.

I am looking the live coverage, the stained glass windows are completely destroyed. There's just nothing there. I don't think anything apart from the stone towers will survive. The lead in the windows may meltSome were reported to have already been damaged.
Not sure that is true - I think someone saw the flames through the windows that were from behind the tower. Watching the BBC live reporting and the Towers don't look like they are burning. One can only hope they survive.
I agree with every single word and feel exactly the same.I can't believe that 850 years of history are going in flames this way... This cathedral is one of the most beautiful buildings in the entire world, a historical masterpiece. It's also the geographical heart of France ("Km 0"). I'm an atheist but I'm devastated.
On TV they are saying that the fire is up to 800 degrees C. Enough to melt lead and glass. Anything wooden is down in ashes. I'm going to be sick...
Eyewitness on BBC now saying he can see the left bell tower is on fire.
Thank you for that link. Not sure of the chronology of the images, but the photo with Macron shows one of the rose windows intact, but perhaps that was much earlier? Still hoping some of the glass will survive.Macron at the scene.
It also gives some indication of the situation at the front of the cathedral (namely, the towers).
Finally some good news. Let's hope for more to come...

This is the photo in question. The Guardian just posted a photo that it says is the latest it has and it does not show the towers in fire.
Damn - the fire is clearly seen in the left bell tower. Not sure any of the cathedral will be saved at this point.
Yes they are afraid the fire might reach the left tower.CNN is showing fire fighters walking between the towers.
