How can someone be involved in sport for so long and be so dumb to development. A growing body needs more (of the right) food. TT who, herself is morbidly obese, is forever publicly commenting on the weight and eating habits of young women- I remember her flipantly saying the second Satoko hit puberty she would gain weight and never land a jump again. Could someone please tell her to read any book on physical development and STFU?!

Didn't it turn out when this first came up that TAT was just repeating Alina's words, and actually disagreeing with them? I think Alina said something like, "puberty's not a problem, you just have to close your mouth and eat less" or something like that. And then after she had a bad skate, TAT was saying, 'so maybe not eating isn't actually a solution'. But I don't really remember, and I can't read Russian, so who knows.

ETA: oh and apparently rumors have it that Moris has left as well. That one still needs to be confirmed. Skirda already left a couple of months back (thank goodness).

OMG if this is true, YAY! I was worried for poor Moris after that rough skate at the Olympics...I have a feeling Eteri showed him no mercy. And I'm thrilled for little Skirda.

Buyanova isn't my top choice for Polina's coach, but I think she'll be better than Eteri, so I'll give her a chance.

last news: Tsuraskaya is not at Sambo as of last week. There was an argument, which ended with (in a nutshell) "then leave if you don't agree". Tsurskaya left. It is said she'll be training with Buyanova together with Sotskova, but the new coach is not officially confirmed.

I'm excited for Polina! She's a gorgeous skater and I felt like she got the short end of the stick when it came to attention in a crowded group of talented skaters. I know some of that had to do with her numerous injuries over the years. Polina strikes me as a very sensitive young lady, and I think Buyanova seems like a better fit.

Med reminds me of Kwan- not just a talented skater but a smart, sensitive and determined person. I’m usually cynical about celebrity images given what I do for a living, but I think she will be successful at something else when she’s done skating. Which I hope will not be for a while. :)

I don't see it as a killer instinct ( I have seen that look on another) but more of Laser focus.

Agreed. It's suddenly become a pretty crowded rink. Buyanova will be one busy coach.

Hopefully, everyone will get along now that this group has expanded to include several well-known skaters.

Yuzu and Javi are an excellent example of two top-tier skaters having shared a coach and the spotlight while enjoying an authentic, genuine friendship based on mutual respect, etc. They made it work for themselves. Some might suggest they are the exception rather than the rule.

Re: Buyanova’s group, only time will tell.

He decided to come back. He came back to CSKA and Elena Vodorezova's (Buyanova's) group. She took him back after thinking about it for a while. We interviewed him and her a few days ago. Interview should come up soon.

A question. Pavel Drozd is in Granada Spain soaking up the culture for their work next season, or is he just relaxing on vacation? Odd. They seem o spend more time apart than together. Are they going to get a new partner for him? It is painful to watch him and so many other dancers dance with partners that simply hold them back. What gives if the talent is too much they can't work together? Nonsense.
 
I am surprised Voronov is continuing.

I just hope Buyanova doesn't force ugly tanos on Tsurskaya like she did with Sotskova.

Not a fan of the over-acting and over-use of arms. Polina does have a soft, delicate style.

They were already teammates with Goncharenko since he left Buyanova the first time. Did it make any difference then?

There is nothing surprising about Sergei continuing. He has stated plenty of times that he's not quitting.
 
The Russian men have been very inconsistent. There are some young ones that may have a good potential in the future, but the same we thought about Pitkeev and Petrov and it never happened, so I wouldn’t be betting everything on Samarin and Aliev yet. Same about any new men who will be newly eligible the next season. Until the young ones become established and consistent, I think Voronov has a chance.
 
I think Voronov has a chance to participate any B competition he choses to. Under Buyanova he also has a chance not to be underscored and not to be stepped over if he delivers. Whether he can deliver am not sure - I quite agreed with the last year's nationals results.

Nationals unfortunately was Sergei Voronov's worst competition of the season. He skated well in his Challenger events and in the Grand Prix and together with Mikhail Kolyada qualified for the GPF. Sure, he might have been lucky to win NHK Trophy with Yuzuru Hanyu being out, but he still delivered there and deserved the win.
He says he still enjoys training and competing and he is healthy, so why not. As it was said above, the other men are not really consistent and although they have more potential and harder technical content, Sergei has his chance, too. If Sergei had skated at Nationals as well as he did in the Grand Prix, I am sure he would have been on the podium in spite of the Federation preferring Mikhail Kolyada, Alexander Samarin and Dmitri Aliev.
To me, Kolyada and Aliev are the best Russia has now, but quite a few other men could be the No. 3.
 
ITA regarding Voronov. It was just bad timing for nationals. Nationals is the big deal for the Russian skaters and pretty much always determines the Euro/World/Olympic team, with Plushenko being the notable exception in 2014. And, given the inconsistency of Kolyada and Aliev, he's got as good a shot at making the team in the upcoming season as anybody.

As a bit of a Voronov fan, I'm excited to see him continue!
