From Russia with love [#29]: Spring 2018 and beyond

Pluschenko was asked about "future of Russian men skaters" and he said back April 2014 that Kovtun is "a good, but not great"... or "mediocre" in other words; yet he praised Hanyu and called him "future of men's skating" and congratulated Menshov and Voronov for European medals.

Plus the issue with Plushy's Oly participation and supposedly taking Kovtun's spot. Plus in 2016 Pluschenko said that Kovtun is not progressing fast enough, etc.

He used the "good average" words about Kovtun

@clairecloutier some weeks ago Plushenko said the girls are hardwokers but the boys like to look at themselves in the mirror....

and I'm working among teenagers and this is my experience, too. The boys are very very busy with their hair!:giggle:

@DobrinFan

Yes, but this year under the OG

Yulia Lipnitskaya said after Misha'SP: in Sochi Kovtun would have skated like Misha.

Tarasova on TV: " no matter what people are saying about plushenko ( about his spot) but in sochi he came out and delivered 19 points when it really mattered."

Russian Eurosport commentators: Russians need to wait the little Sasha Plushenko

According to a Facebook post by ice dance coach Ksenia Rumiantseva, her students Betina Popova/Sergei Mozgov have left her and switched to Anzhelika Krylova.

Okay. So Loboda and Drozd are still with her? Who will Krylova work with? Zhulin, Volkov?

I don't know what's going on with Loboda/Drozd. He is constantly posting photos from travelling on Instagram. I need to ask him if he is still skating!
As for Krylova, I don't think she is going to team up with Zhulin or Volkov or someone else. I believe I read that she wants to join Elena Tchaikovskaya's school. But I'm not sure.

He's probably just reminiscing about his travels. Shouldn't they be choreographing new programs now? Or going on vacation.

As for Krylova, isn't she just exploring her options in the summer? Or was she just being coy?

I don't think that will happen, unfortunately. Maxim Kovtun is a talented skater, but I think he was not working hard enough consistently. To me it seemed like he was slacking off and then tried to catch up, overdid it, suffered an injury etc. And even when he landed his jumps once in a while his programs and his overall skating were not at the same level as of the top skaters. To me, Mikhail Kolyada and Dmitri Aliev have far more potential. But now they have secured a third spot at Worlds, maybe that inspires Maxim and the others. But none of these men are consistent in competition.

Agree! I think Maxim had all the talent and opportunities to become a contender, but his mindset never seemed right. From what I hear, he was kind of a rebellious kid and didn't really listen to his coaches much. I don't think he spent much time working on his posture and stroking, and that poor posture affected his jumps. He always looked to me like the hockey kid who walked into the rink and tried figure skating for the first time (think The Cutting Edge). It's unfortunate, but true. I do think he should've gone to the Olympics in Sochi, and I wouldn't defend old Plush if you paid me. But I do believe Kolyada and Aliev have better odds.

Third spot for Sergei Voronov, I'M BEGGING!!!

LOL. I'm just abdicating a Plushenko boycott, if the rumors are true (and sadly I think they are).

Did you see or what? or just do you think? I ask again do you know him? Do you know him as a person? Do you know him as a father? How many human reacts have you seen from him???? OMG! Shame on you!

Well I can't speak for his own moral character, but I don't like what I'm hearing about his wife.

The story sounds a bit off to me. So I really don't want to voice an opinion. I will say I was raised in a close loving family where for a joke not much was sacred. When any type of evil is so far out of the realm of reality some people do say things. I can picture now my mom saying" Stop it now. Do I have to get my stick" and we would laugh. My mother not only never touched any of us ...she never raised her voice to us. I have also read so many horrible episodes of other happenings where no one had a clue of what was going on. His wife does seem to have a fair amount of arrogance and this might be the time where it might be in her best interests to tone it down and straighten this out. There are people who's job it is to investigate situations and I am so glad that they are there as there is so much ugliness in the world. I will wait and see how it pans out.

Me, too. We need to wait and see.

You are great!

I follow Plushenko since 2010. Probably I have seen every videos, heard, read many opinions from fans, from his friends, from witnesses, every interviews articles what we can find on internet..And reports from those who met with him regularly. He has great fandom. His fans shared everything he has many fans all over the world. If you don't meet with him personally but these things can show his soul and personality. He can't live in a role in his whole life.. Many FS fans know only the competitor Plushenko, the champion but that is just one side of his personality. He is kind with fans, funny, patient, original-"plushenkoish"- , and adores the children, his sons, family, especially the little Sasha.I read every interview of him on Sasha his planes with his son, etc from the beginning .
Don't get me wrong he is not perfect( he has many mistakes, I know those also) he has bad days as the other human beings have.
His wife is annoying but not a child abuser. Ridiculous. Yes, maybe Sasha has too many tasks, and they have ambitions, but Sasha remained a happy boy who enjoys what he does. And he has time to play, too.

They are dollar millionair, celebrities. In that environment they have high responsibility if they want to rise a normal, polite, educated guy. Maybe that is better if Sasha has too many tasks now but he will be a normal person as if he would disappear in the life of golden boys. And if you watch the life now they can't be sure they will be successful in it.

We will see what will happen.

You think? Based on what? There are things like evidence. You don't go around throwing serious accusations based on what you think.
Yes, disgusting..

Sometimes I don't understand the Fs fans..Plushenko has many haters because somebody told he "hates" the jew..Well, his wife is a half jew, his long time choreographer David Avdish is a jew, too. One of his best friends was a jew( he was killed some years ago) I remember he has tears in his eyes when he talked about him. He is arrogant, well he is very kind and patient to his fans he always very polite with the women..He don't like the gays..he was the only one Russian famous skater who supported them openly. He was the only one who signed the petition against the anti gay law and they sent it to Putin. He is a child abuser now..I didn't see any other stars who is so humble in his job when he works with children...

one of his pupils https://www.instagram.com/p/BhTgWrSAATt/?taken-by=novozhilovaeva - Thanks to my beloved hl trainer @plushenkoofficial for the magic rope from Japan, it helps me a lot
Plushenko's answer:- Straight legs should. Well done.. -he is in Japan

:D ... Do you understand the meaning of the word "abdicating"?

(but whatever you chose to feel, do, think, watch, not watch, attend, not attend, is no skin of Pluscheno's nose, nor ours.... so go right ahead, abdicate, advocate....).

What are you arguing against? against a person's choice to not follow Plushenko's persona media info or not attend his events? Who cares what she does? let her.... Pluschenko will not lose out... :D

Sorry to be pedantic but 'I'm just abdicating a boycott' makes no sense?

abdicate | ˈabdɪkeɪt | verb

1 [no object] (of a monarch) renounce one's throne: in 1918 Kaiser Wilhelm abdicated as German emperor | [with object] : Ferdinand abdicated the throne in favour of the emperor's brother.

2 [with object] fail to fulfil or undertake (a responsibility or duty): the government was accused of abdicating its responsibility.

I think you meant - I'm just advocating a boycott

advocate noun | ˈadvəkət |

1 a person who publicly supports or recommends a particular cause or policy: he was an untiring advocate of economic reform.

Tchaikovskaia has no ijs talent whatsoever. Worst coach In the world for ijs! Krylova did peak in 2012 but at least she excelled in ijs.
Isn’t that crown already given to Zhulin ?, are you recrowning that to Tchaikovskaya?

Tchaikovskaia is the absolute worst. Gorshkova and buitikov prove it. Zhulin is horrendously untalented as well as he couldn’t fix any problems of b/s or s/k. Plus while being the most powerful coach in Russia Russia didn’t medal in ice dance for the first time ever for an entire quad.

If anything Tchaikovskaya can give Krylova some good advice and some creative direction with her teams. I just really hope that the Russian Fed doesn’t go all U.S. ladies with Krylova and pin her as the great hope of Russian Ice Dance.

What do you think is Tchaikovskaia greatest accomplishment in ijs?

To be fair: When Gorshkova/Butikov were with Chaikovskaya, Rumiantseva belonged to that coaching team for a few years as well :shuffle:
At least she was listed as their coach and could be seen in the KnC with them sometimes.

@Vash01 @lala Well I guess I can't judge without proof, that's fair game. We don't really know these skaters personally and they can be either amazing people or real jerks, we'll never know.
