Much Ado about nothing Soundtrack by Patrick Doyle. They seem to have a innate sense of whimsy and self-assured humor that might really sell this music. Lots of highs and lows, changes in tempo. Also, a built in storyline.

Also, a mix of American Bluegrass music. Perhaps something like Orange Blossom Special, Sally Goodin'....

along the vein of the same type of spirit there is a selection of songs from the divine secrets of the Ya-Ya sisterhood soundtrack.

Yes! Hideaway by Kiesza! OK here is a VERY random list of things.

I've thought Rimsky-Korsakov Coq d'Or suite would be good for years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqZcz9ZkMsU

Thievery Corporation? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPoNsWyWyjA

I want someone to do No One is Alone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=d-039KGjsP0

Smashing Pumpkins! https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=3&v=NOG3eus4ZSo

One of my favorites works of music of all time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8j7FnUZxxqw

I've gone through several great pop songs in my head, but they all seem to be a little too monotonous for the purposes of ice dance.

Maybe "Dancing on My Own" by Robyn? It has some dynamics/development. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcNo07Xp8aQ)

I think "Pearly Gates" by U.S. Girls could be a good song to skate to, but it's definitely not the kind of uptempo number you're asking for... Still, if anyone is interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9PLXHDEUFE

That is the problem with pop songs, mostly they are too repetitive with all the refrains making them monotonous and not interesting enough for a FD. They are all often to a fast high-energy beat, which not only would be very difficult to skate to for a full 4 mins but also would not fit the ISU requirement of either music that builds or a clear change of rhythm.

A few more that I like and I think would make great ice dance programs

Chet Faker - Gold (helps that it has roller skating girls in the film clip)

Radiohead - There there. I actually don't understand why anyone hasn't done a Radiohead program before

Millie Turner - Underwater

Banks - Gemini Feed

The ideas is good, but the music is made for TV and apart from a few minutes here and there, is mostly too monotonous for an FD.

I think if searching and cutting carefully, something really good could come out. It doesn't even need to include much of the main theme, but lots of pieces have great build. Paul Fentz did a good job imo for his FS.

Just from season 6 (I'm sure there's lots more):

Needle
Khaleesi
Light of the seven

Fitting these bullet points,
  • Builds or Changes tempo, forming a coherent whole
  • With Character and Memorable
  • A Style or Characters that Both Tiff and Jon could Play Well
A few war movies with good sountracks (not exactly uplifting or clap along material though):

Alexander
Pearl Harbor
Letters from Iwo Jima

In general, I agree with the idea of going character-based. Tiff has great presence and I was really impressed by Jon this year too, so it's a good idea to exploit that :)

Other ideas:

If they want something more classical, Jazz Suite Waltz (Shostakovich) is nice and uptempo.

Someone suggesting David Bowie. Maybe Starman, Rebel Rebel, Under Pressure (but Chock/Bates did use it recently)

First and foremost,
THANK YOU FOR ASKING US!

My humble suggestion is to take a look at a Steve Martin movie from the '90s with Bernadette Peters and Christopher Walken - Pennies From Heaven.

Whoever suggested 42nd Street got me thinking of this(it has been used). The movie has It's The Girl and Yes Yes as well as others. Set in the Depression, a salesman down on his luck has an active fantasy life where he stars in musicals. Many moods, many tempos. I think this team could pull off something fresh and wonderful.

Whatever you do, Please Don't copy Pap/Ciz! These two are lovely enough on their own and don't need to!

Shostakovich + ballet = The Young Lady and the Hooligan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgU_hJ9FTh0

I don't remember it being used in ice dance, only some selections in pairs (e.g., Mukhortova/Trankov) and in singles (D10, Denis Margalik, Irina Slutska). Different sections have a different audible tempo, it's possible to build a character, it might suit the style of Tiff/Jon :).

Something else that came to mind was Dvorak’s New World Symphony. If such a piece can be used as an FD I think that Tiffany and John have a certain intensity to make that music come to life.

Aren't you the skate mom that bashed V/M? yeah, not helping you.
Stating one’s own opinion in which one doesn’t worship a skater is not bashing.Given @taz'smum connection with skating she could easily have an ego, but she has for as long as I’ve been on FSU come across as someone who is aware of the hard work it takes from all sides of elite level skating and respects skaters because of that. You’re more than welcome to not contribute to this thread but if you think you can just drop the :drama: and not be called out on your BS then think again :p

Well said!
I have tried very hard to avoid giving my opinion on other skaters, as Tiffany's father who was a skating coach taught me very early on, you should never say anything about other skaters.
They have all worked their butts off and made enormous sacrifices to get to the level they are at, and anything you say, good or bad, could be misinterpreted.
It is for this reason that I love the commentary by commentators such as Ben Agosto and Mark Hanretty, they have such respect for skaters of all levels, which they so deserve, every skater is giving their all no matter what their level!
( Any ego I had was firmly destroyed during the DG years :scream:)

"This video is blocked in France :( "
That makes no sense. Perhaps you could find it on Spotify or hear clips on Itunes? It really is worth a listen.
