They must look at the programs of dubreuil and while not copying exactly do something very similar.

The last thing the program should have is the audience tapping their feet! That’a not rewarded and ignores what’s successful now.

Uplifting and Uptempo
  • Builds or Changes tempo, forming a coherent whole
  • With Character and Memorable
  • Crowd/Judge Pleasing
  • Gets the Audience Tapping their Feet
  • A Style or Characters that Both Tiff and Jon could Play Well
"Everything Illuminated" - has it all, fast, slow, feet tapping pieces, "ethnic elements" and yet can be VERY abstract in places, like the movie. Tiff can use any style of hair, colors, costume ideas.. The sound track has many styles of music, walz rhythms, mazurkas, e.european folk, foxtrotts, voice, no voice, etc..

I would like to see a Hamilton skating program...

But I would love to see them do some sort of Rock'n Roll FD. Maybe David Bowie or Queen like others have suggested. I would be super excited to see a Heart program. I think they could pull that off well, as Zagorski seems spunky.

I think I may have suggested it before, but I always think of Franck's violin sonata for them because of its long sinuous, at times wild musical lines. It's an amazing piece of music, innovative, modern and romantic at the same time. It would not fit the toe-tapping criterion but could fit some you didn't include: mesmerizing and intimate. There are lots of tempi, rhythms and melodies to choose from. I think it would stand out in the sea of contemporary music that will probably be used, and could not possibly be considered trite.

I know this is far fetched.... but i always thought this piece from "Aristocats" is a complete FD, with 4 tempo changes, costume possibilities, and suites a young fun loving team who does not mind a bit of comedy and sass.. :D

I think they should do a Pulp Fiction FD using Samuel L Jackson voiceovers.

Yes! Urge Overkill and a little bit of "Misirlou" would make a perfect combo - I am sure the latter would make everyone clap and tap their feet :).

Btw, why not an 80s synthpop free? Imagine the possibilities for costumes :p. For instance, any mix of Human League (e.g., a dub mix of "The Things That Dreams Are Made Of"), Yazoo, early Depeche Mode and Gary Numan :). Or go even wilder, using SAW (Stock Aiken Waterman) as a source of inspiration (Bananarama free dance, with a prominent "Venus" part :D).

Give ‘me what they want, in the highest possible quality:

Come and meet
Those dancing feet,
On the avenue I’m taking you to:
Forty-second Street.

Listen to the ca-1980 Broadway version. Gorgeous arrangement. BEST version stars the glorious voice of Wanda Richert...go to the 1:22 mark for the main theme:

Here’s a rare film of that 1980 Bway version, but with another actress (voice not like Wanda’s). Go to 2-minute mark for the start of the main theme.

I can picture Tiffany in this 1930s hairdo...flaming red, of course!

I’d love to see a free dance to a medley from Beyoncé’s self-titled album from 2014: I’m picturing Drunk in Love to start, Superpower or No Angel in the middle, Blow to end.

It’s still on the more lyrical edge of things (and could also work as a gala program) but Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ “Runaway” has a really nice modern rock edge to it. https://youtu.be/-QqArc12juQ

@taz'smum on a different note I’m very glad to see that Tiffany and Jonathan’s success this Olympic season has given them more ambition than satisfaction. Given that both have been around for quite a while (Jonathan with Riazanova and Tiffany with Miart) they could have both called it a career after going to Euros, Olympics and Worlds, but I’m very happy to see that they have decided to continue, she has such an “it” factor to her skating that it will be such a treat to see them continue to compete and see how much they can continue to achieve with what seems to be their ideal coaching team.

My idea: An ‘80s themed program with totally tubular new wave costumes. A simple but proven theme: young couple runs away together and finds 1908s romance, like in the movie Valley Girl.

Music: Start with the other red headed Tiffany, and her greatest song “I Think We’re Alone Now.” (Yes, it’s a cover, but I don’t care.) And then use “I Melt with You,” maybe with a slower song in-between.

A similar program to the actual soundtrack of Valley Girl would also be rad IMO.

ETA Just realized my idea is similar to Shah’s. I support his idea as well.

Commenting on other people's suggestions:

I think Sia could work. I'm not sure which would work best together/for skating, but I like The Greatest, Cheap Thrills, Chandelier, Elastic Heart.

I love Bittersweet Symphony and I could see them doing it, but it's not really uptempo or uplifting. The version the did on the TV show Riverdale is pretty, but the original is maybe a bit more uptempo, so maybe that could work.

I don't know if I see Believer (Imagine Dragons) for them -maybe, not sure. But it's a great song and I think it works for skating. And it can be mashed up with another Imagine Dragons song for the tempo change. I like Radioactive and Thunder.

No idea if There's Nothing Holding Me Back (Shawn Mendes) would work for skating, but I love the song and could see it for them. I really like Hideaway (Kiesza) for them as well.

I like the idea of 42nd Street, but that also sounds like something that could work for the Rhythm Dance in 2019-20.

My ideas:

Maybe Start a Fire by John Legend. Demi Lovato's Lionheart or Neon Lights.
