It's the Grand Prix. You can't expect me to play blind on this Olympic Season. Everything that is happening now is building towards the OG so the thought that these scores have no connection to the OG is just outrageous.

Would have to agree on this point. If I desperately wanted to see Virtue/Moir win Olympics, I would be very nervous that Papadakis/Cizeron broke the world record on neutral territory.

Probably right, I can't see how VM won't improve their FD score...They should break the 200 pts next time barring any error.
I agree, they have to be spot on, and not make a mistake (Tessa's toepick on the Cist). I'm waiting for big scores in NHK too !

Regarding the OBM, at this point I see the Shibs as the front runner mainly because of their technical mostly level 4 elements and also because they never seem to make a mistake.
I would say anyone in the top 10 (Minus G/P) is a frontrunner for the OBM. It's not just the Shibs, H/D have the highest total score among the Americans so far this season. It's a packed field.

Agreed. Hate to predict but I see a Sochi repeat -- coming from a V/M fan.

I'm a fan of both teams. I prefer P/C but that doesn't change the fact that if V/M are better on the D-Day they should win. Same for P/C. That is how it should be and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I see no Sochi repeat, nothing. I see 2 teams that have to battle for levels and deliver strong performances, no errors allowed.
Now, when I see people saying they are worried about V/M : they could be 1st, 2nd, or whatever, that will never change their brilliance and the fact that they are forever standing at the top of the Ice Dance history along some great couples. It's their last season and everyone should enjoy it. Going nuts because of scores won't change the fact that it's going to come down to the day they all skate at the Olympics.

I think the bronze will go to whoever skates the cleanest and hits their levels on that particular day. The Shibs are the most consistent but I think the rest have a lot more upside than the Shibs’ programs. And I include B/S in this group as well, despite the bad skates in their GPs.

To be honest, I actually thought B/S would be the one to move to Kustarova after Zhulin announced he was taking Sinitsina and Katsalapov and maybe they should have switched to another coach once their programs were choreographed. Zhulin seems more interested in S/K.

I see Shibs and H/D for the bronze right now. W/P is a dark horse for the bronze, and C/L and C/B are behind this group. Behind C/L and C/B there are B/S, S/B, G/P.. And not far away there are Co/Bu, G/F, the poles, the israeli and maybe Z/G... Deep field but there is a hierarchy between the followers of P/C and V/M. (Yes the poles won't get to the olympics but if I have to class teams right now this is my pic. I'm not sure either spanish couple are in the top 15)

H/D and Shibs are favourite for bronze and totally in the course for a silver if one of the top team makes a heavy mistake.

I would say the fight for gold is all but decided and will be between Virtue/Moir and Papadakis/Cizeron. Calls in the short dance especially are going to be hugely important.

There's a small part of me that hopes there a lot of falls at this Olympics and neither of these two win. The way the judges are setting this up is just annoying. None of these programs are masterpieces yet, and they shouldnt be receiving these kinds of scores.

For the bronze medal race, let’s not put too much stock in GP and even GPF placements/scores. We know things can look really different at the Olympics and don’t always fully reflect what we’ve seen earlier on that season. I think if anything, the team event scores will be the most telling with surprises by some teams in the mix but not chosen for the team event. I have a growing feeling that with B/S failing to make the GPF barring some withdrawals and truly unexpected results in the upcoming GPs, Stepanova/Bukin are going to be pushed heavily, starting with Euros. Nobody, including the USFS, cares which American team wins the bronze (the only medal up for grabs) but I bet that specific teams from elsewhere will have a more concentrated politick push since they’re that fed’s only chance to win that bronze and I have a feeling that may make a difference.

Based on movement in scores since last season, two questions I have heading into the rest of the season:
1) Will Stepanova/Bukin be able to challenge Bobrova/Soloviev for the top spot by nationals?
2) Will Guignard/Fabbri overtake Gilles/Poirer before the end of the season?

The international judges are being pretty clear in their total hate of all b/s is doing this season. Maybe they can change all their programs or maybe Russia should just totally dump them.

There is no hate, they just don't deliver!
They are really tall ice dancers, yet, they skate as small as the shibs! And that's not proper coaching to these two.
They haven't shown progress. Worse, their FD has been going downhill since their first outing.

It's not too late but IMO, Zhulin NEEDS Volkov & Denis to come back. And IMO, I don't know what Durnev's credentials are, but he's not a good technical coach at all.

Canada (and Virtue/Moir) gets gold in the Team Event and Papadakis/Cizeron get gold in the individual. Everybody's happy then, right? :D
Nice try!

As for VM fans being “worried” about PC getting a WR score, I would only be (mildly) worried if PC had gotten that WR while skating head to head with VM at the same competition and VM’s score was significantly behind it. Since neither of those things has happened and comparing scores from two different events is pretty pointless, I am not worried in the least.

Now it’s they don’t deliver and are hated!
Maybe b/s just need to move to wherever volkov and Denis are? Forget zhulin!

If this is their last season, they should focus about enjoy their programs and the journey, they have had a great career. For me it is obvious that they love their programs, and even if few or many people connect and love their programs, it will surely be much appreciated by them.

But will Chan actually compete at the Olympics?
If not, imagine Kevin Reynolds leading the team to a gold medal win. :scream:

And a certain poster whose name rhymes with Ezra extolling him as the best thing since sliced bread. :p

They know for a Russian number one for nearly a decade having only one world medal and it being bronze makes them totally unsuccessful.
