The deduction was for time violation not for an extended lift. Really pointless but this things happen...
 
Hmmmm the SC Short dances bored me while the short dances at Rostelcom thrilled me.... hmmmm, I can't figure this out.....

and off topic here... that is one hideous kiss & cry Skate Canada rolled out. They should just call it the mug shot station.

Truly did no one at SC test out that K&C? LOL

Yes, when Zach and Madi paired up Vanessa came down and paired with Keiffer and they did a tryout. Worked out really well and they worked together for a few months. Neither Canada or USFS would release either skater. So they had to hang it up. But wow they were great!
I didn't do any videos and photos weren't allowed because it was a big secret. I figure now they release some of the Kennedy files, I could release this info.

Haven't timed it myself, but someone on GS said they got 3:01 - 3:03, which would be over time. ETA: timed it myself and I got 3:01 or 3:02. Not sure how you timed it.

That would be super...I always feel that that was such a waste. That was really sucky of Canada to not release her..There was no one of her caliber in Canada looking for a partner and she was the one who was dumped. Even so is it one yr or 2 they would have to wait.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Spanish men but I thought he was bit timid in portraying the flavor of this music.

They looked better here than in their previous competitions, but the pattern level 4?, I guess now is not a big deal to get level 4.
 
Are teams actually hitting the rhumba pattern better than they were back in 2011-2012 or are the callers just being more lenient now? Same question with the judges. Back then there were a lot of 0 and negative GOEs for almost every team at 2012 Worlds for the Rhumba pattern. Now it's positive GOEs galore.

From my naked eye, it seems teams are indeed better at it, and are actually doing it with more flair. However, I'd like to hear from a more techy person.
 
This is something I have had on my chest since yesterday, so I'll let the steam go out.

Dear Victoria Sinitsina,
Please drop your partner before he drops you even more harshly/dangerously than he did yesterday.
Katsalapov might be a great champion one day in solo ice dance.
In couple ice dance, he's just a disgrace.
So please, put your safety first and find yourself another partner, or turn to another part of skating or another interest.
I will be very happy to follow you in your future adventures, especially if you're still in one piece.

They tried getting releases. But one was a Jr worlds champ and the other had gone to the Os with Canada. Also, I am sure the US really really was hoping to pair him with a US lady.
one other thing would have been in the way for the 2 year wait also. But I could have see Keiffer and madi on the podiums with their new partners. ice dance lost one of the best male skaters when he retired.

I feel the same way about Vanessa...Her light airy movements and flow are so beautiful...the only other female ice dancer that I got the feel of weightless movements is Tiffany of Tiffany and John.Gabby of course has a beautiful flow but it is not the same type.
 
Did a video of Zahorski/Guerreiro`s Short Dance surface anywhere? I wasn`t able to find it and I was so looking forward to see their programs after test skates.

Last time, they had to do the pattern twice. Wonder if maybe teams were losing marks on the second pattern?

I hope for this too. I just like Andrew. This his height it is much more difficult to master skating but he did and it looks amazing. Its just so aesthetically pleasing to watch him dance.

I just watched their SD, and there doesn't seem to be much warmth or connection between them. Needless to say, the fall was very jarring, and his lack of obvious concern speaks volumes. She deserves to be treated with much more respect and care. He's a total turn-off.

There never was a lack of expression. She sparkled. Near the end of their partnership I looked back on a vid or 2 and there was a slight hunching of her shoulders. I am sure it would be easily fixed...She had also been very ill.

What type of illness?
 
I truly believe Vanessa and Paul would have become world medallists if they had stuck together. OTOH, I feel that if Paul ever gets onto the world podium with Piper, it would be a case of a depleted field or taking advantage of mistakes made by other teams. Maybe they will prove me wrong, but I kind of doubt it.
