The Dance Hall, Part 4: To Helsinki & Back -- Seeking Rhumba Magic ...

in fact apparently it was Dean who chose the music.
Yep, they said they were rather indecisive, couldn't decide which music to choose. When they met him, he already picked up these two songs and had an idea of the choreography.
I wonder what songs P/C were considering as possible options for the SD. Someone could ask them that in an interview.

You know I usually ignore the pissing contest between which fans are the worst but I would put money on the fact that at lest 40% of those V/M ubers you detest so much in the V/M thread are not Canadian. So as a Canadian I'd really appreciate it if you could just fcuk off with that bullshit.
lol, i think that many times your last sentence would be perfectly suitable to my feelings here and more importantly in my real life.

I just watched P/C's SD twice and I am honestly :eek:.

It is really well skated. Although I agree with comments about Gabriella shining more than Guillaume. Still, it's really well skated, they look great ... really outstanding with skating skills.

Unfortunately I hate both of these Ed Sheeran songs with a passion .... Usually I try to accept whatever music the skaters have chosen, even if it's not my favorite, but this .... Also there's no Latin flavor. It feels more like a hip-hop or club SD. It feels like they should've used this music last season, not this season. And Gabriella's dress would be great for a Latin, but it has nothing to do with this music and feels totally off.
Sorry. I guess this is just not what I was expecting ....:slinkaway Maybe I'll like it more later on.

P/C had a strong performance for this point in the season, they look ready.
But my problem with their SD, like nearly all the SDs, is that the only parts that are remotely latin are the ones where they're posing. Once they start skating, any semblance of latin disappears.

I really wish the ISU had gone with their original idea of a tango for this season...

Me too. Even last year`s blues/hip hop/swing mashup was better than these Latin Short Dances.

I want to repeat this. I could nitpick the amount of side by side skating they did but other than that what their feet were doing was great. They were actually dancing. Kudos to Dean because he finally choreographed something that didn't look like he wanted to skate to it.

Plus someone else noted that going with a pop star is going to make their SD accessible to crowds in an Olympic year. I think they have set themselves as the ones to beat.

Personally my general impression is that the worst of the Uber's of V and M are irrational and the worst of the P and C fans are condescending and smug.
They each are obnoxious.

HAHAHAHA! Perfect. As I fan of both teams, I am the worst of the worst! This is my story: Canadian, lover of FS forever and a day. Followed and loved V/M since they were kids. Saw them compete live as kids. Watched them go on to achieve as much and more than we could have hoped for as a nation in this sport. So proud. Post Sochi. No V/M. :( :(. Young French team now in Montreal with D/L (another team I was immensely proud of). 2015 Worlds, Mozart. WOW! Beautiful! 2016, To Build a Home. WOW! 2017. Return of V/M. Yeah! Oh wait.....now what? TRY really hard to be fair. But it's hard at times because of some of the rhetoric, I do admit.

Anyway, re SDs this season. It seems most teams are going with the non-latin latin music choices. For the SD, I guess those of us who are not on board musically will just have to focus on the skating. It IS figure skating before it is anything else. Especially in the SD.

Whoa this thread went down the toilet, real quick.

It actually started in the toilet IMHO.

I was there at the arena to see P/C. They both shone equally well. Guillaume was not weaker than Gabriella, nor the other way round. Gabriella's dress is great in person and fits well with the music. Loved the music as well, it's a very current and coherent piece. Good editing there.

That SD is simply fantastic. I thought they were actually a bit underscored, as I would have scored them around 80-81 points and there is still room to grow after polishing the program. It's a great vehicle for them. :cheer2:

Thanks so much for sharing your live impressions with us. That must have been a lot of fun!

Why would this be nitpicking? It's a constant problem with P/C. There's so much to love with them that I'd probably be a big fan if not for their empty programs that are really lacking in interdependent skating. Ultimately I guess it depends what people value in ice dance, but if the judges never penalize them for it, there will never be any reason for them to increase the complexity.

yep, i remember how this thread started. it started as a specific diss against v/m's win last year by a p/c uber, right even at the thread title until it got modified to be fair to all ID teams, so yeah, there's the toilet right there

#NeverForget :drama:

The loosening of the unison rules for the SBS has really helped P/C because there were times where they were seriously out of synch but they sold it in a way that could be interpreted as intricacy.

Ouch! I see what you mean though, and hope it's something they work on as the season moves forward.

more drama from a moderator who is supposed to stay neutral and not stoke further drama :COP::rollin::shuffle::sekret::inavoid:

If you have a problem with my posts, take it up with the board owner. Being dictated as to what I can post by frothing at the mouth ubers is not part of my contract. :D

Maybe we can change the topic and ask are the Shibutanis stuck in a Coldplay rut? Do they need to consciously uncouple themselves from Chris Martin's vocals? :saint:

I'm trying not to think about that. I hate that song so much.

I actually do think moderators should stay as neutral as possible.
It doesn't happen here frequently.
I've come to expect neutrality and experienced it on other forums in general.
Especially on non uber threads.

Well, you might want to stick with those other boards then because that is not how FSU has ever worked.
