The international assignments doc has been updated

http://docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/793a42_aab0ebdd2b2040d592464e8911da28d9.pdf

Kerry / Dodds are assigned to Cup of Nice!!!

Kailani is also now listed for Nebelhorn, with Brooklee listed as sub.

Katia and Harley also listed, with Paris and Matthew as sub.

Matilda and William with the dance spot, with Kimberly and Timothy as sub - does anyone know if Timothy is an Australian citizen? I know he is an American citizen, but I think you can hold joint for us and the US.

No man listed for Nebelhorn, obviously.

Chantelle and Andrew are also listed for Volvo Open Cup (yes I'm just reading down the list at this point) and Warsaw Cup. Also Open d'Andorra and Istanbul Bosphorus Cup. We have four Senior Dance teams listed for Andorra. Holy crap.

LOTS of assignments for all the dance teams; I guess ISA wants the clearest possible picture.

Brooklee seems to be going to the Tuktamysheva School Of Load Up The Comps this season.

I am already vastly looking forward to Nationals. Like, a lot. The dance and the ladies is going to be brutal...

Since we have so many men and dance teams (potentially) with the 4CC minimums I wonder if the ISA is looking to maybe split the spots? eg, not send Brendan to 4CC and instead send three of Andrew/Mark/Jordan/James instead (I assume that James is shooting for 4CC this year since he's got Senior assignments).

Any update on Katia's citizenship? I would think them getting the Nebelhorn spot is a good sign, but the last i think i read was that it was on track for June/July and it is August and don't recall a celebration.

Katia and Harley are previewing their new competitive programs today at their training rink in Sydney. Press have been invited, so there could be an announcement then.

Interesting that Craine is listed for the Olympic qualification spot. She is a very strong short program skater, so that choice may have weighed in her favour. I really like her free program this year, too.

Kailani Craine is listed for 3 competitions (Lombardia, Nepela, Nebelhorn) between Sep 14 - 24. The girl is a spunky sakter but, surely, this can't possibly be right?

Craine fulfilled ISA's published criteria for the Olympic qualifier as excerpted here: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/threads/australian-skating-news.98953/page-9#post-5091521

I believe it's standard procedure for the Aussie skaters to request more international competitions than they actually will attend. Craine is also listed currently for the Slovenia Open, Sept. 2-3.

Craine was certainly very close to qualifying a spot for Australia in Helsinki with her 19th place after the short. Too bad her free skate was a little shaky.

Anyway, Let's hope she puts out two solid skates at Nebelhorn. I would love to see Australia in with a chance of qualifying for the Team Event in South Korea.

Anyone here going to this? I really would have liked to but I just was not up for that drive today. Especially since it's starting at 10:30.

Yes, I was there. They performed their short programme (Paint it Black - Rolling Stones). Whilst it was clearly early in the season in terms of performance, it looks like it will be a good choice for them; it will be interesting to see how it develops. Bit of a dodgy landing on the split twist, and may have two footed the throw (I was sitting low in the stands, so my view was blocked by the barrier) but otherwise it was pretty good. Lift was solid and death spiral very low. Encore was a throw jump. As a lot of the audience would not have seen proper pairs before their were a lot exclamations (hopefully of enthusiasm!). No further information regarding citizenship.

Also performing: Jordan Lazarus, who I believe will be at the Junior GP in Brisbane, and gave a very polished performance, and the Majestic Ice junior synchro team (not an enthusiast for synchro, but a friend's son is in the team, so I applauded enthusiastically regardless).

ETA: Video of part of the pairs performance from Canterbury Ice Rink Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CanterburyOlympicIceRink/videos/1690927717597005/

I found this yesterday on Twitter, and it really belongs here...

Kailani Craine gave a live stream Q&A with students from three Aussie primary schools in different regions of the country on Wednesday, from her training base in L.A.! Really sweet how she's so personable answering their questions (it's around 40 minutes long)

^^^ Cute costumes!!!!

So both them and Scimerim are doing Paint It Black for the SP?

What are the odds of this?

Its like on Drag Race when its night of a 1000 Madonnas and everyone showed up in kabuki

Well, I love both teams so I hope they both SLAY!

Sasha Trusova is a little jumping machine. She has already smashed out triple flip/triple toe/half loop/triple loop/triple toe as well as a triple lutz/triple loop/triple loop. Just squeaked out a quad sal (with a step out), too.

Now this I would like to see!! :respec:

So I think all three Australian women did well in Brisbane today. Amelia Jackson was particularly good with a nice strong 2A and good ice coverage. Looking forward to the LP on Saturday.

^^ Nice to hear!

Interesting how results go russia, russia, japan, japan, USA, USA, Korea, Korea

I thought that was interesting as well. Of course, the Australian women here don't have the technical goods to compete with the top juniors, but you have to start somewhere. All three looked very well prepared and polished. I felt a bit sorry for the first skater, Jordan, because she had such a long wait in the K&C for her marks (there were some tech difficulties at the start.) She kept smiling and handled the situation very well.

ALL OF THE HELL FCUKING YES!

But that arena? Are there enough seats?

ISA and ISV are pushing that it is a two - rink facility.

Four Continents attendance in some countries such as the USA don't get massive attendance in 10,000 seat arenas. So, going with a smaller facility is economically more viable, and a good idea for this event.

The cat is out of the bag.

ISA and ISV are working towards bidding for a future Four Continents event, to be potentially hosted at the O'Brien Group Arena in Melbourne.
Yay! I've plenty of family members a stone's throw away who will be anxiously awaiting this development. They'll be there if it all pans out... Maybe I will too! ;) Thanks for the info, @aussieSKATES - appreciate it.

But Japan is a hell of a lot closer to Australia than it is to the USA... I suspect a 4CC in Aus would be very popular and well attended by Japanese fans. And Korean and Chinese, heck it is even closer for Russians. Actually the more I think about it, it is a great spot for 4CC! I think attendance would be great.
