2017-2018 Program Music and Choreographers

^^ I would say, you usually don't seem to miss too much @Dobre. ;)

Hopefully, both ladies are using different selections. Probably the music decisions were not entirely made by Brian Orser in either case.

I totally agree, they really tried something different and did it extremely well.

It's interesting that so many of us are on board with P/C's Lindy Hop after the fact. I totally agree. They were brave. Gaby took to it though with much more enthusiasm and motivation than did Guillaume. Since Gaby dances swing comps with her boyfriend on the side, Lindy Hop was not such a stretch for her. Whereas it was a bit more difficult for Guillaume to get into that rhythm. He didn't seem fully on board at first, and he made some minor mistakes. They weren't quite in sync throughout their SD at the start of the season.

So in retrospect, it was the fact that V/M had a boffo SD from the start and P/C had to work their way into perfecting the Lindy Hop that had perceptions of P/C's SD lagging behind a bit all season. And the Shibs, C/B, H/D & W/P doing well with hip hop, and G/P doing well with disco somewhat overshadowed what P/C were doing, at least for me. But agreed that did not mean P/C did not ultimately really work the Lindy Hop SD. It was underrated a bit in retrospect because it wasn't great right off the bat in comparison to other SDs. Also, Gaby/Guillaume worked out the kinks in their FD all season. I give them tremendous cred for sticking with their vision on the FD. By Worlds they were simply out-of-this-world in skating their FD -- absolutely amazing and unforgettable. Boggles the mind how they could do that with three straight seasons of mesmerizing FDs at Worlds!

Actually, I had been looking forward to seeing Guillaume performing hip hop, not swing. Interestingly, I think it's just that swing/blues suits Gaby more, whereas hip hop probably interests Guillaume more (he was certainly training hip hop a lot last summer with Tessa -- Whoa, maybe we should see Virtue/Cizeron doing hip hop on ice together for fun, while Scott and Gaby do something dramatic & romantic together on the ice, again for fun. That would be cool to see :watch:).

I'd actually love that. That video of Tessa and Guillaume dancing together was very cool. And I bet Scott and Gaby would have fun; I remember them goofing off before the SD warmup at GPF: https://youtu.be/i9ip80oGeeQ

^^ Ah yes, I can totally see a fun entertaining switch of partners for exhibition performance working out so well! I'd pay to see it live. :D

It should be dramatic, romantic & comedic between Gaby and Scott! :cheer2:

I'm always in favor of more Mozart, but combined with Carmina Burana? That's going to be . . . interesting

I was actually expecting another elaborate early season music video/music choice reveal with the out of left field character angle for their programs that we've gotten the past few seasons, and I'm a little disappointed we didn't get it lol

^^ Yeah, I loved A/R's story videos. But they probably need to put what little funds they have toward their training rather than promoting themselves. Although, they could use more of that too along with sponsors and some politicking in their favor. They are fun to watch, despite needing some polishing and fine-tuning of their technique and rough edges.

There is still hope! :D...... very little hope, but some...... Carmina Burana is not just O Fortuna, it has 24/25 segments. Mozart as well offers a lot to chose from. From both there are several compatible pieces, quite a few i am sure..... but here are some possibilities....

Estuanse Interius – (Internal Fire/Burning Inside) goes with Commendatore Aria…

Dulcessime (Dearest/Sweetest) goes with “Queen of the Night”.

… these potentially also fit well with Queen of the Night as well…..

Amore volat undique (Love is in the air?)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKY9bz6WZ-0

In trutina – (at peace ?)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mu6FkeRRdVI

..... it's not likely ...... but possible.....

Sigh........Ashley. First time I have listened to any La La Land music. It is worse than I thought.

Her's will be much, much, much better than any of the others. :glamor: you should go to Jackie Wong's YouTube and check out his fluff piece on her program, it honestly looks pretty good!

( :COP: There will be some Oly season skating-movie trailers coming soon....just not necessarily by A/R :p)

Looking forward to seeing Luba and Dylan's program, I've always liked that song. I kind of prefer lil' Kim's version, but that wouldn't go over too well in skating. :shuffle:

Parsons/Parsons are doing Ghost Dancers - a very creative/unique choice despite being inspired by another team.
