2017-2018 Program Music and Choreographers

Chock can bring the a type of appeal that isn't really common among her current competitors (Hubbell and Virtue would be the exceptions I guess) but the point is that Chock can seduce an entire arena, and while Imagine is a fine piece of music I just don't think that it's what will give them the highest chance of being among the top 3 in dance once the Olympics rolls around.

Chock is not to ice dance with Cizeron is, especially since her partner is nowhere near as dynamic. Also, technically, she's not so superior that you just are blown away by her like say Oksana Grishuk. I believe that Shpilband's lack of a vision for this team is the problem. Right away, you saw the vision for Virtue and Moir when they returned. Everyone knows what pap/ciz are good at. The Italians have a style. Weaver and Poje have one too. Madison and Evan in my mind have not overcome looking like a pair team trying to dance. I can't get on board

I have the same opinion. Also C/Buckland and the young French team L/LG.The height difference makes them look like pair teams. The way they are swung around in the lifts
GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!! i was going to say Penny and Nick as well but didn't want to get too off topic. The height difference is not blended. Meryl and Charlie managed to blend their height difference but it was not that drastic. Also, Buckland is not SO far behind his lady in terms of skills, asthetics and general attraction. Evan's posture and shallow range of emotion bother me. Last season was not his season in terms of dealing with pressure.

Igor teaches the old school over the top expression for a lady where the acting is bad. I contrast that to Gabriella Papadakis's expression in the Lindy Hop program that was not their strongest rhythym. Her expression looked like she was dancing while no one was watching while being happy which turns out to be just fine for the dance. Madison's Bad to the Bone expression....:confused::confused::scream::scream::scream:

The problem with this is that Christopher Dean has been doing their choreography (exception being Bad To the Bone SD last year which was Rohene Ward). So Shpilband doesn't have much to say in it when it comes to Dean. :shuffle:

So Igor did not make any changes to those programs?

In interviews, it was stated that Igor made some changes to the FD before Nats in response to judge/official feedback. From what I could tell via social media posts, it looked like Rohene visited their rink a few times during the season, so it's likely the changes in the SD were made by him.

Ward will go straight from Boston to Kansas City, where several skaters for whom he has choreographed will be competing this week at the 2017 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, including three dance teams. Two years ago, Ward choreographed a dance program for Madison Chock and Evan Bates, and this season he has spent a week each month working with Igor Shpilband's teams.

"It's like working with performers!" he said. "They skate full-out, 100 percent all the time, so it's not about, so much, the technical stuff."

It seems that Rohene has become a part of Igor's team, he also worked with them this summer as well.

what? Are you saying that you don't think Igor adjusts it in Novi? That's what you typed basically. What did you mean?

I have exclusive scoop! Chock and Bates were so inspired by Rippon's performance of "Diamonds" that they hired him to record his own new lyrics to "Imagine" to use in their Free Dance.

Imagine ‘80s movies
Hot girl and nerdy man
Unlikely romance
Like coach’s deep brown tan
Imagine all the twizzles waiting to be blown

Imagine all the o-face
Fire engine red lipstick
PCS scores gigantic
Not due to politik
Imagine Shibutanis falling left and right, you

You may think it’s generic
Nothing behind big tricks
But just wait ’til you hear our
Hot funky dubstep remix

Team Montreal should watch out
Thinking one-two’s locked up
The French are weak and godless
Tessa will be knocked up
Imagine Scott’s complainin’, when we get the gold, you

You may say Maddy’s facials
With this music is loco
But when we win in PyeongChang
You’ll be screamin’ like Yoko
And the sport will be redeemed

Imagine ‘80s movies . . . . . . .

For fun, go to YouTube and look up "Imagine John Lennon remix"... Remixes with Nas, dubstep, Muzak... The possibilities are endless!

 Reminds me of some vintage Johnny skating to vintage John: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRUDucbDTZQ
Beautiful skating; amazing precision, balance and positions on jumps and other elements. Imagine that! :D

Dubstep remix with John & Yoko visuals... Ahhh

I can't imagine skating to my own singing. I think it'd freak me out. But if he can, more power to him!

Yep, cool!

"Imagine there's no Heaven," which presupposes there is a Heaven, which is not a supposition I'm predisposed to imagine.:saint:

Hmmm, apparently you can't use your imagination when it comes to heaven above or hell below us. For you heaven is missing not only an angel, but altogether missing it seems. :p

So Tursynbaeva & Daleman are both doing Carmen short programs?

Unusual for two ladies that share one of their coaches, is it not? I'm assuming, in this case, different music from Carmen, but still unusual. Unless I've missed something?

The two ladies I was most looking forward to hearing program announcements for--Karen & Elizabet--are both skating to Carmen. I suppose this says something about the type of ladies singles performers I like. Witt, Cohen, Sotnikova, Chen, Tursynbaeva. Or perhaps the entire world just skates to Carmen.
