Vroom! And the novices moved up (7 teams/partial teams).

Glad to see Avonley Nguyen, Luca Becker, and Cameron Collucci "back in the dance."

Best wishes to everybody. Thank you for posting the list, Sylvia.

Thank you for the list!

Will seniors be sparsely attended this year, or are the entries just not up? Pogrebinsky/Benoit said on instagram recently that they're going, and I assumed Parsons and McNamara/Carpenter would be as well.

Regardless, I'm really excited about these teams. Looking forward to the reports from juniors, interested to see who takes a big step forward this season. I am also interested in the new teams(Amoia/Becker, Popova/Colucci, Nguyen/Kolesnik) and, in the case of the latter two, curious as to which country they'll represent.

I assume the bigger names will compete in Lake Placid next month. Click on the Chesapeake competition thread link I provided above for the full list of dance entries (only 3 teams are entered in Senior SD).

ETA:

Oleg Altukhov has partnered with Laura Whipple, coached by Leif Gislason in Aston, PA: https://www.gofundme.com/OlegSeason2017
Whipple once skated with Deividas Stagniunas in his early years (in Illinois): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deividas_Stagniūnas#Early_years

ETA #2:

I forgot to include in my original post the 2017 Nationals placement of Allie Rose [N6] - new Junior team with J.T. Michel, training in the Philadelphia area.

Some teams might be going to participate in monitoring and/or off-ice USFS activities but not actually competing. I remember Hawayek/Baker did this at this competition a couple of years back.

I assume P/B and the other top teams will be there for the dance camp (run by USFS) but not competing. There are always plenty of teams that attend only the camp and don't also enter the comp.

It makes sense to go for Ukraine. US does not have much room

What a great list of athletes! Let's hope we use all our JGP spots this time.

Indeed. Glad to see the number of junior teams bounce back after some splits and retirements last season. I'm especially excited to see Cameron Colucci and Luca Becker back with new partners.

Following up on two Chesapeake Open entries:
SENIOR
...
??? partner not listed online & Jacob Schedl [J12 with Cassidy Klopstock]
Klopstock is listed now.

JUNIOR (* = currently listed in ISP & eligible for JGP selection)
...
Amanda Miller & ??? partner not listed online (NEW)
Daniel Tsarik is listed in the Short Dance event now, so I presume he is Miller's new partner? I did a quick search online and he used to compete in DanceSport, national level.

Looking forward to seeing Avonley, Luca, and Cameron too- they were the standouts of their age and level. Does Chesapeake have live streaming?

It hasn't in the past, but Lake Placid did last season so we may get to see them there.

Just wanted to repost AYS's link to this picture here because, IMO, it's pretty cool. The U.S. senior ice dance gold medalists with the U.S. juvenile ice dance gold medalists. Across the generations.

Oh, they are!. The boy looked familiar to me, but I did not was sure. Really cool picture.

I just saw that Christina and Anthony will be competing. I think SD is today, I guess they will be debuting programs. I hope someone upload a video. Do the Greens plan to participate in this competition?

C/P are doing the FD only, which is today. The Greens are doing both (SD was last night).

no videos? Is it forbidden to record in those competitions? Or none of the attendees thought it was relevant enough to record and post it on YouTube? It's the off season, we need anything!

While I understand the wish to see early videos, the problem with Chesapeake Open is that the rink has no seating whatsoever. Spectators are forced to stand the whole time with their noses pressed against the hockey barrier glass. During more popular events (junior dances), one can barely find a good spot to get the whole view of the ice. Filming could be done (barely) but would not be worth it for either the person doing the recording and the persons watching the video.

They used to hold it in the other ink in the complex which does have seating. I don't know why they moved it.

I wish we could just find out the music the top junior skaters are using. I would've been satisfied with audio recordings of their performances lol.

It was held in the NHL rink the first year the comp was at The Gardens, in 2007. Since that year, the NHL rink has been melted down after May Day Open and used as a gym for their summer camps (and I imagine that it saves the rink money), then converted back to a rink in Sept. From the dance camp pics, it looks like that rink/gym was used for some off-ice classes. The only rinks available for Chessie are the Oly rink and the back rink, which has a small amount of bleacher seating but the layout/construction does not provide enough room for the IJS equipment and additional judges/officials. So IJS events are on the Oly rink (Resor) and the 6.0 events are on the back rink (Logsdon).

IDC's 2017 Dance Camp photos: http://photos.ice-dance.com/2017-18/17USFSDanceCamp/

ETA that were at least 6 Senior teams in attendance in the photos I saw -- Hawayek/Baker, Pogrebinsky/Benoit, Biechler/Dodge, Manta/Johnson, Parsons/Parsons and McNamara/Carpenter.

Thank you for all the photos! I believe this one--currently on the homepage--is probably of all the senior teams that stayed for the camp. There are 8 teams in it.

The Reynolds and Klopstock & Schedl are also there.
