Yuzuru Hanyu Cheer Thread

This tweet says Yuzuru landed a clean 4Lo in gala quad battle and Javi landed 4T: https://twitter.com/mirrorhands/status/676033963920592896

BONUS: HERE IS THE 4LO: https://twitter.com/cheerytfigure/status/676037965785653248

EDIT, ANOTHER VIEW: https://www.instagram.com/p/_PA6njq4jE/

It's a clean 4R. Thanks for posting. This worries me though. In the past the loop jump caused hip problems in some skaters. I want Yuzuru to be healthy for many many years, but I don't believe he is going to stop challenging himself.

Totally impressive but one cannot help but hope he can maintain this unreal level of health and execution. I mean really, the most important part of the season is yet to come.

Well, I guess this all comes down to health. If he is healthy and strong physically, and trained like now he is just machine that throws quad after quad. I hope he will continue being healthy right now on the way to Worlds

Personally, I hope Hanyu backs off on training after Japanese Nationals to give himself a mental/physical break before Worlds. I think he must be feeling a tremendous amount of pressure to further improve his record scores at Worlds.... the only thing I can compare it to, maybe, is Scott Hamilton going into the 1984 Olympics not having lost a competition in the previous 4 years, but it's not like he had to be perfect in any given competition to rack up that record. Hanyu's pressure is to be perfect every time he goes out to skate now.

Yuzuru will always have to deal with immense pressure, sadly he can't run away so better live with it. But I believe the biggest pressure is, the stronger it will make Yuzuru become.

Don't forget that Yuzuru is crazily competitive, so let's hope he will pull through. When he was doing the warm up while Javi was waiting for his score, the crowd kept chanting: "Javi Javi Javi!" Then Yuzuru jumped a huge 3A: https://twitter.com/anipooh1/status/676404025215033344

When I went into the rink I did 2 jumps. And for the first time, I missed the triple loop. Then the crowd chanted 'Javi, Javi, Javi!' . And I thought 'SH-T! Watch this!' So I dashed around and did a 3A as best as I could. Like, 'Look, it's me who is going to skate now!'"

Here is the interview in which he described the situation: http://dai.ly/x3i2skb

Meioma - I believe Yuzuru got angry at himself first for missing the 3Lo, then he hear the Javi Javi cheers before jumping the 3A.

I think he got irritated also because the crowd kept Javi Javi cheers, it was a huge pressure to skate right after a good skate. That's why he said something like "it's me who is going to skate now!"

I didn't say the crowd was mean. I think it's more like the crowd got excited for Javi (which was very understandable, it's even worse skating right after Yuzuru to be fair) and Yuzuru felt the pressure and he got... irritated by the pressure and it fired him up.

Being "crazily competitive" will not protect an athlete from over-use injuries or injuries sustained from attempting skills that the athlete is e.g. too exhausted to perform safely. Hanyu is not a quad-jumping machine; he is a human being with a human body, albeit a superbly trained one.

Training periodization is nothing new in sports science. If the body is not allowed time to recover after a period of intense effort, further training actually leads to decreased performance due to exhaustion rather than continued increases in performance.

I know it's hard. And they will have Japan national in Christmas. And after that New Year ice show in January 9th. I'm worried that he only has one or two day off but maybe after National it will be much less stressful. He said during SC or NHK (I don't remember which) he only had 2 hours of sleeping because of practice and college stuff. Sometimes I forget that he is also a college student and education is even the higher priority to some extent. Hopefully after National he will have sometimes to rest with his family. I wonder if he will go to 4CC before WC.

Sorry about that.

:(
My friend is reuploading the music on dropbox and dailymotion. I am waiting for her to complete.

In the mean time, since many people have complained that they could not watch Yuzuru's FS fancam on Youtube due to music copyright, a fan has reuploaded a very good fancam on Dailymotion, please enjoy: http://dai.ly/x3ie9s8

The fancam has such wonderful views. His jumps are so... HUGE from this seat. Those quads and 3As!:eek::eek:
Even the final 3lz is huge!

I'm sure Hanyu's team will ensure he gets the rest time that he needs. But if there are articles or website links to information where they confirm this, I'd like to see this acknowledged in print. I'm glad people are talking about this topic in this thread, because I had been wondering/worrying about the intensity of Hanyu's work possibly coming back to haunt him. I don't want to hear about him having injuries and physical pain later in life because he gave too much to the sport. As exciting as it is to see him achieve things which I am still trying to fathom...his lifelong health is so much more important.

A great article about GPF: http://www.insideskating.net/2015/12/21/features/yes-he-can-his-majesty-yuzuru-hanyu
The truth is Yuzuru Hanyu is definitely a generous, inspiring young man, continuously offering emotions, and feeding himself with the response of the public. „I owe my performance to the audience”, he said, humbly, during the winner’s interview in Barcelona, adding with that childish, natural spontaneity that made him adored by his legions of fans: „I was a flower boy at NHK Trophy when I was little. I was dreaming to be like Plushenko or Johnny Weir or Alexei Yagudin, some top skaters. So please, please don’t give up skating, practicing or dreaming”.

Another great article from Golden Skate: http://www.goldenskate.com/2015/12/yuzuru-hanyu-4/
“It is a sport that people tend to pay great attention to the scores and get really excited when a world record is refreshed,” Hanyu acknowledged, “but I think the most important thing is how you can push your limits and bring out the best performance you can.”
“People may think my scores are wonderful, but I feel more motivated when I hear people say they like my performance and they want to watch it again,” he continued. “In order to impress and move the audience, I want to continue to train hard, to make sure my jumps are consistent and the overall program is a complete package. I want to give the kind of performances that stay in their hearts.”

Yuzuru's SP at Japan National: http://dai.ly/x3jen33
Other than the fall in 4S, he did really well and got over 102. Poor boy he put too much pressure on himself.
Transcription of the kiss and cry:
B: Looks at the marks. It's pretty fast
Y: Yeah (wipes sweats, he sweated a lot, poor boy)
B: Nice job.
B: Were you (less?) nervous today?
Y: No. I think I have to do everything perfect.
B: You are human... you don't have to be perfect every time.
Bless Brian Orser. Please keep the boy safe and sound.

Yuzuru and Brian'a talk in the Kiss and Cry with subtitles: http://video.weibo.com/show?fid=1034:45db4f72b2f70bf5fe5d545040e7689b

Poor boy he sweated too much. He always sweats but this time he looks kind of exhausted. He is still human after all, Brian is right, you don't have to be perfect always, better save it for Boston.

Yuzuru is always hard on himself, so I am sure he isn't happy now. However that's life, I hope he will feel much better tomorrow.

He is a perfectionist and nothing less than perfect will satisfy him.

The way he got up from the fall streight into the spread eagle was amazing. By the time he was up his blades were in position.

This article says he felt hurt in his left ankle several days ago. I think he should have a long rest after National, no intensive training. I think it's unavoidable since he has trained so hard during the GPs.

http://mainichi.jp/articles/20151226/k00/00m/050/162000c

And Yuzuru really looks tired in the kiss and cry, I think there is a high chance JSF will not send him to 4CC so he can have a good rest and heal his ankle.

I'm quite sad though, I hope he can go to 4CC as many Taiwanese fans want to see him but if it's not good for his health then I hope they will understand.

It would be disappointing, but better that he be well rested for Worlds.
