Dear Yuzuru, I know you are so tired so the second 4T and the first 3A you did mistake, I know this performance is below your usual standard but a win is still a win. You have fought so hard, 3 competitions within just ONE month, you are still human not alien. Actually it's better to have mistake here when you are so tired than at international stage. So don't be so harsh on yourself. Have a good rest and enjoy the holiday.

You have time on your side to improve your stamina and show your best at Boston.

It is good he wasnt perfect at Nationals. He couldnt do it in every competition, and that is the best place for him to not be perfect. In the unlikely event Fernandez or Chan up the ante and skate perfectly those errors could cost him the world title, so better he makes them here when nobody can challenge him.

Well I guess it came down to fatigue. He landed first quads easily, and he looked massively tired after performance. To be honest even before... I hope Orser will control him. Good rest, good training to Worlds and it's his. No overtraining, because what's the point of going to Worlds again injuired or tired.

Yeah for sure. I wonder if he will go to 4CCs? If he isnt overtrained it should not hurt him so not sure.
 
I kind of agree that it's good that his skate was flawed at Nationals, for psychological reasons. Now that he's got a bad result (bad for him, that is) he's got something to strive for: a better performance. Before Nationals, it meant better than practically flawless which could mess up anybody's mind. It should bring expectations, especially his own, back down to earth again.
 
It's official, Yuzuru will not go to 4CC. Sigh... I really want to see him there but I guess his condition is not that ready yet. Hopefully he will be healthy and ready at Boston.

In an interview after National Yuzuru said he's spending time to practice compulsory figures with Tracy Wilson so he can hit Step sequence level 4 every time, as he still gets level 3 now, not always level 4. I think practice this will not cost him too much energy and it will help him more in the future.
I am quite happy that he wants to improves so much despite the fact that he doesn't have to. He always looks into his weakness and is always eager to fix the flaws.
And people keep complaining about his toe, actually I have noticed in some photos that Yuzuru DOES point his toe, even though it's not always.

Oh really? I didn't know about that. Better body alignment will help him get less injuries? Is this the reason Patrick is quite healthy in general because he has practiced well figures?
 
I am not a biomechanics expert by any means, but proper alignment is stressed in many different types of sports and disciplines (including dance and Iyengar yoga) to both help build maximum strength and prevent injury. Intuitively, if your body is properly aligned, then its parts will be able to work in the most efficient and harmonious way, which in turn will decrease the amount of force and energy you need to execute a maneuver, which will thus diminish the amount of stress.

For example, for dance:

As all dancers know, alignment completely underlies one’s ability to move efficiently and “injury free."

Proper body alignment is critical to strengthening ligaments, tendons and core stabilizers. Improper posture and improper muscle length-tension relationships lead to natural motor recruitment compensation by the body, which is a major contributor to athletic injury.

I'm surprised though, I'd have expected him to either test it out at 4CC or leave it for next season. But he needs challenges, after perfect LPs at NHK and GPF, maybe just having it on his mind will help. Mama won't let him attempt it if it isn't ready me thinks.

Through doing this, I become Seimei. I think I’ve paid a lot of attention to this while performing.
When you look at choreography as something within a fixed framework, and endow each movement you make with a deeper meaning, my own perception of it all becomes much more, and the cheering from the audience even begins to sound different to me. The movement of the air I feel when I’m skating which had no meaning to me before, now is something that is a part of nature, and I am a part of this grand thing (called nature). The concept of Tenchijin (heaven, earth, people) is one way of looking at it but I realize I am a part of this greater thing. I am living within this (much greater/bigger thing). I can feel these things when I am skating. It’s a bit difficult to explain this…but because Mansai-san instructed me in the way of these things, I feel these things a lot while I am skating.
Sometimes it’s something that I happen to treasure at that very moment. Sometimes it’s something I want to express at that very moment. I can treasure these things and think about how to communicate these things, how to express these things with my body, and I pursue the solution to these things. Even though the technical aspects of figure skating are important too, it makes me very happy to skate while striving for all these things I have mentioned (today).

I wish Hanyu would just get that 2nd world title under his belt before moving to the quad loop next season. Adding even more risk to his program could cause him to implode and lose, and if he somehow doesn't win worlds this year, I could see him putting even more pressure on himself when he already has so much.

Tracy says Yuzuru is very polite and very self-driven. :cheer: He is often the first one to celebrate (and show respect to) other skaters' accomplishment. She also thinks that Yuzuru has beautiful body lines, but sometimes his posture is not good because his layout is too demanding. However her opinion is that he is capable of adjusting his lines better, all he needs is more stamina and maturity. She emphasis on the importance of good basics. She is very supportive and professional. I am so glad Yuzuru is guided by her. She should get more credit for his achievements. :cheer2:

The article also explains how Yuzuru got level 4 and the GOE for his elements are all deserving. There's even drawing of his Free skate step sequence.

My friends have spent so much time on these articles. Hopefully from now on those folks that say "Hanyu has no transitions" or "Hanyu's programs are empty" will shut up. His programs are the hardest.

So the reason Yuzuru came back to Canada quite late was because his left foot was injured. I hope he is healed and totally healthy now. Boston is so near... Nail biting time...

I have heard that during national his left foot was hurt. But nevertheless he still landed quads that means it's light. Being Yuzuru fans is constantly like: "Is he healthy? Is he healthy?" Lol
